so, ... re-opening Berlin ?

Populist idiocracy is not just a USA thing it appears . . . demagogues everywhere :-/

I've told it from the very beginning : it was a bad idea to open the European Red Center in a country which isn't really European, out of the Euro zone... I've said opening it in Germany would have been the smartest choice. But I guess they chose London for fiscal reasons. It would be great to know now what they'll do with waiting and new orders.

Well, why would they change anything for the orders? The UK are not out of Europe yet. It will take some time, probably months or years. They just asked with a referendum so far.

Yes, but they'll delivering the new cameras early 2017, so a lot of things can happen ;-) And don't forget the UK/Euro fluctuations which happen right now.

Well Red didn't change anything regarding the price of the cameras when the Euro came up these last months. That would be shitty if they do it in the other direction. And anyway, we're dealing in euros for our cameras, the euro didn't change much with the brexit so far. They should open Red Paris, there are studios too.

Yes, Red PAris would be a very good idea, in the heart of Europe and no custom issues then.

fpr me, all the custom stuff (repair) and so on are the most un-creative part the human race ever created

I hope that Germany could open again their reparation service. It's easy to get from airport if you need something urgent and quick connection with clients. Hope that Will will back.

Agree. I went once to Red UK, it's difficult to reach. Not only you have to go to UK but, then, take a train and a taxi to go there. There should be a more central place in Europe.

I would put my money on Germany being the best candidate for a Red HQ/Center Europe. Germany's trademark punctuality, commitment to detail and quality, efficiency and perfectionism is something I think would be good for Red customers in Europe. I'm concerned about France regarding customer service and punctuality, and the frequency of strikes impacting customers who either have orders or repairs on the line. From my experience ordering camera equipment from the UK, France and Germany over the last 7 years, Germany has been fastest, cheapest when asked to match prices with competitors, most reliable (processing and sending orders when they promise with the right equipment), and best customer service.

Brexit and Red

Please do not discuss the politics of what just happened in Britain. I just want to adress the issue that if free trading disappears between Red in England and the rest of EU, we would need a new European base for Red.
We can't have Red in England being the rep for EU now they they are leaving EU.

Can we reopen in Berlin? Red needs to take this seriously, since the free trading regulations within EU was the primary reason we bought from England and not US directly.

True. But I think they still have at least 2 years till the free trade ends, if it will end at all. They might remain in the EEA. So basically nothing changes.

Yes, we should hope for that, but I think Red should still consider changing the location. The Red center of EU should not be located in a country that isn't a part of EU. We won't have the same level of freedom in traveling to and from that center if we had to. Then again, since the major idea behind leaving was to close the borders, there might be risk of closing down those borders and trading agreements even more. Right now there's just too many risks of things changing, better to relocate the center to a country of EU which has Euro as it's currency (the whole pay in pounds thing were very strange at Red England, some things in Euro some in Pounds)

There is already another thread.

That thread is in "off topic", which will probably lead into political debate rather than keeping on track with a subject related to Red.

Red shouldn't have a center for Europe in a country that is leaving EU. The center for Red should have Euro currency and free travel and trade between other nations of the region. Britain made their choice to close borders, it might take years getting there, but I don't want to make any business through them anymore because it could become a hassle. Red Germany needs to become the new center.

I'm ashamed to be British right now - such a stupid decision as a country.

Hopefully this mess won't mean the prices will increase for our pre-ordered Scarlet-W for those living in £ land (I guess this in the scheme of things is the least of our worries right now).

Only wish i could have paid upfront - I never thought our population would be so silly as to vote this way!

disappointedly,

James
