  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Booting..... (and hangs)

Experienced the same thing last night, build 16. I have to say it does make me nervous. Glad it didn't happen on a serious shoot with people looking over the shoulder.. hoping for the camera to work. I'd rather have a stable camera then improvements in the picture at the moment..

Happens to me all the time. It also makes me nervous. All this removing the LCD cable in and out will definitely reduce the lifespan of the monitor and the cable ports.

Dont worry guys.. we are aware of the reports and the guys are plugging away at tweaking the firmware to relive this bug. Good thing is the build 16 bug list is getting shorter and shorter :)

I have same problem with 2 cameras, And also without LCD and EVF i have same problems. Not every time but it can happends once per day . Also same problem was with B15 and now with last B16.

...same here...was also there with Build 15...

Thanks Jarred

Just got the camera 3 days ago and we have started testing... and, yes it... hangs on boot-up every time, power cycle and try again, and maybe it works maybe it doesn't.

However, I have noticed this (and it seems to be repetable):

If, after some time (about a minute into it) of hanging, the fans will go on - still no change on monitor (only says "Booting...") - there seems to be a 100% success rate that the camera will boot fine at he next power cycle.

If after the same time the fans do NOT turn on (and if they do or not seems to be pretty random) the succsess rate of booting on the next power cycle is about 50%.

Maybe this helps somehow in trouble shooting.

i think the lifespan of the monitor and the ports will be not reduced by carefully plug-in plug outs -

i have my camera now for one month - and there were maybe 2-3 booting issues and after restarting it worked fine.
yesterday there was an issue with the fan. body was very hot, camera indicated "body hot", but i were not able to start the fan, not in "hot" mode, not in any other mode. it wasn´t very warm in the room, so the fan simply did not work. after a restart no improvement. then after some minutes the fan started again ... and worked fine with all modes. so it seemed to be some internal software problems, no hardware issue on the fan.

Only times i've ever experienced it I simply unplugged the cord (from the battery block) and unplugged the battery, waited about 15 seconds and plugged everything back in. Worked great after that.

same problem with booting. have a production un friday and no solution

There was talk a while back about booting the camera with the lens port on or the lens covered. This reduced or eliminated the booting hangs. I had good luck with that on build 15. Give it a try, see if this helps.
