Book of film making terms?

[Scott Miller]

I searched, but can not find the right combo of words...

I recall there was a great little book that listed the myriad of useful and often funny industry words and terms used on set and location in this business. Someone recommended, and I added it to my Amazon wishlist a while ago, but must have deleted it. A PA on the shoot I was on the last 2 weeks asked for a recommendation and now I can not recall the title.

Anyone recommend a book of terminology we should know on set?

Thank you and sorry for the slow brain function I am suffering from after 2 weeks of on the road 16 hour days

Are you thinking of Tony Bill's book, "Movie Speak?"

[Scott Miller]

Not sure if it the same one, but that works as a great recommendation for the PA

Thank you!!

After you pointed that one out, Amazon then recommended the one that was suggested initially months ago:

"Strike the Baby and Kill the Blonde: An Insider's Guide to Film Slang"

[Robert Aldrich]

Look on Amazon for The Complete Film Dictionary, by Ira Konigsberg. The second edition hardback version I have is 469 pages.

[Christian Edwards]

The A-Z Guide to Film Terms

[Brook Willard]

Here you go.

As far as dead mother-in-laws.... Better to use my rule:

Only date and orphan.... only child!!
