I was just wondering... according to the module prices and i know they are subject to change, but the BOMB EVF is currently listed at 3200 bucks, I'm guessing maybe this is aimed more toward the EPIC then the SCARLET, but my question is... are there different features that accompany the BOMB EVF that make it more expensive then the EVF for the RED ONE that is listed at 2,950? I know we don't know a whole lot about the accessories yet but maybe someone can give their insight, and or would the EVF they make for the RED ONE be compatible with the SCARLET or the EPIC?

Brett.

From what i've read the BEVF is MUCH smaller than the original EVF. Also it is heated which should be extremely useful during the exterior shooting days. And most obvious of the differences is that it has a sharper picture, but from what little I've read of it, not by a tin, just slightly better.

I possibly wouldn't even consider the EVF for the Scarlet; it will be an enormous and will possibly be an eye sore to an otherwise minimal system.

Good EVF's are expensive. You have to have something to view with though.
I'm thinking of using the new 2.8" LCD with an aftermarket eyepiece for a poor man's EVF.

The RED EVF is by far the best EVF I've ever looked through. That the BOMB EVF is better, and significantly smaller (RED EVF is a beast) for only $250 more, makes it worth every penny.

It's an expensive investment to make initially if you are looking to create a budget package, but I would put that high on my list of accessories to get.

If I can swing it I definitely intend to get one. I generally prefer shooting with an EVF anyway if I have to choose between EVF and LCD. Red's price is similar to top line EVF's from Sony and Panasonic. Not overpriced for a bullet proof under all conditions piece of shooting hardware.

The new RED EVF looks ~3-4x smaller than the original EVF. The design seems to fall in line with their new philosophy of modularity and light weight camera systems that don't expend on functionality. So putting the old EVF on a Scarlet/EPIC system will look a bit odd as the EVF is as long as a few of the modules RED will be selling.

AFAIK the bomb EVF is the same resolution as the RED EVF. 1280 X 848, so I'm not sure how it could be sharper.

I think they upped the screen refresh rate a bit so you don't see color artifacts when you move your eye.

RED may have upped the refresh rate, but the rainbow with quick eye movement is still there if that artifact bothered you with the original EVF.

Personally, the colour artifacting was never a big problem for me, and smaller and lighter is good. Overall I prefer the 7" RED LCD though!

IMO the EVF is an indispensable item on any camera, I have some time shot things with cameras with out one, and it is a pain, especially on sunny days.

I personally can't do with out one, and as said before my me and many others, the RED EVF is by far the best EVF out there, no question, a little big and heavy, and for this I look forward to the new RED BEVF, an essential piece for both Epic and Scarlet, and I will not be surprise the list to see it on many R1's as well.

I would think for those Scarlet Users that NEED an EVF for things every once in a while, there will be a lot of used EVFs out there for a good rate.. The cold will still be an issue, but the ArcticX EVF heater will solve that problem.

I'm just frowning at the BEVF price. I was trained to always look down the viewfinder when operating a camera, but I don't think I'll be able to afford it. Looks like a used one is going to be the only way I can go if the price remains the same.

Just noticed this morning that the old EVF is longer available to buy with the new one mooted for release late spring/early summer. Though I rarely check the store so this is probably way old news
