Does anyone have any direct experience with the Bomb vs. lets say Zacuto? Is it worth the money? Is there a noticeable difference in quality, etc?

Thank you

The zacuto is not in the same category as the Bomb evf. Although the Zacuto may be nice for a dslr, the bomb is vastly, vastly superior. The ability to judge focus, and make critical image analysis with the bomb EVF is far and away superior to the zacuto.

Because i already own one (DP4) for my MK II, I was gonna use it instead of forking out for the bomb..at least initially. Definatley not as ergonomic and streamlined (or aesthetically pleasing!) as the bomb, + the detail through the bomb is indeed the bomb. Hard to quantify whether DP4 is only 1/4 as good optically (i would say half!) ..but is is certainly 1/4 the price and it has nice peaking and presets + good setup options and its own power. Plus the people at Small HD are really nice and do great after sale!

I'm sticking with my Zacuto... It has a great image, its light and maneuverable and is not going to cost me $3,200! I do eventually plan on getting the bomb. But for the time being I'm buying a couple more batteries and SSDs.

Any reason why no one is going with the Cineroid? The Metal version has an option for SDI in/out. I know it's more expensive, but that feature is pretty important and lack of it is a negative that's always mentioned on the Zacuto and SmallHD. And since you can only have either SDI or HDMI out of the Scarlet and Epic, you really lose the better output. I'm planning on getting the Cineroid myself. Am I making a mistake?

Does the Cineroid support the menu and GUI of the camera? I would imagine that's its only downfall. But having not used a RED camera before I do not know. If all goes well with the Scarlet I'll probably order a few Epics, but I have to say, my first "experience" with RED is so far a slightly taxing one. RED is not very specific on certain things and leaves a lot up to the forums - or so I have been finding.

In general... Yes small HD DP4 is amazing.

That said..... for only 6x the price you can have 3x the view finder.

Law of Diminishing returns. The Bomb is AWESOME.

If The very good, $600 Small HD DP4 will get the job done, Awesome!

But if it wont.... well, you have your answer. I personally will be using the DP4 till the Scarlet is paid for then i will get the Bomb.

Yeah, and that one still only has a resolution 840x400. The Bomb has a 720p screen sitting inside of it. So that's far superior than anything else I have been seeing. The only downside is that you can't run both the LCD Touch and the Bomb EVF at the same time, correct?
