  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bomb EVF Shipping

We also received a Bomb EVF today for a replacement for a Red EVF ordered in October 2009 some 555 days ago. I guess thats better than 666 days ago.
It looks great and comes in a cool little Pelican looking case. I do wish that the mounting holes for it were on the side instead of the bottom. We will have to look for better mounting options than the Red arm. Any ideas on a better mount when attached to a Redone?

RED's Spinner EVF mount looks very promising, but it doesn't seem to be available just yet.

ET's EVF mount was wonderful with the old EVF, but is too big for the new EVF when mounted to the EPIC (IMO)... Still not a bad solution though and fine on the RED One. Only takes a simple L-bracket piece to make it work.

I wish they made this side mounted bracket as per there early renders.
Lens height, close to the body, looks to tilt up and down...
This to me is a perfect configuration. I think we will mill up our own EVF bracket. if it's good, Illl make a heap and sell them.

The saga continues...

Cail,

If you could please send me the last correspondence you had with your BOMB SQUAD Rep, I would be happy to look into this and correct the issue so we can get the unit out to you as soon as possible. Please email me at michaelk-at-red-dot-com.

Regards,

Ordered November 2009, just came to the door a few hours ago. It's awesome so far. The diopter is very solid, and the image is perfect, crystal clear and the image looks "creamier" than the LCD. The mounts being on the bottom is a little clunky with the Red One standard arm attachments (which i hate). But when the spinner mount arrives with the epic, it will be solid. The included case is awesome. Worth the wait.

Attached are the images.

I got mine! :-)

(this was sent from the future via wormhole router tech... how far into the future? can't determine that)

This?

Haha... no, just the reduser post was sent... some small bits of data tend to work ok. The wormhole I'm talking about is microscopic (to avoid collapsing) and an EVF is too large to send through. You'd have to break it down to pure data and it probably wouldn't get reassembled properly on this end.

From complaints to solution to confirmations to wormholes... interesting path this thread has taken...not complaining though, always love how entertaining things get...

I really want a bomb evf for that wicked case it comes in! :P

seriously...that case is THE BOMB!

Red has been quite the lesson in patience, but this EVF thing is getting ridiculous. Can someone explain the hang up, and why it has taken more than a year to produce a known quantity of items? Is some component produced by a single village of Japanese dwarves?

I had to rent an EVF for months with my R1. This problem is now four years old. I understand the tremendous energy being put into the new cameras, but why can't there be follow thru on this one component? I have heard nothing but "real soon" from my rep, which is patently false. I appreciate the commitment to transparency at Red, which is why the opaqueness of this problem is a mystery.

thanks some of you for actually posting :)
