  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bomb EVF Shipping

My post #358, on Page 36 of this thread, which features a photo of my Red One 0008 next to my Bomb EVF, also has the shipping case in that photo, and mentions in the text that the Bomb EVF ships in a case. Its like a mini-Pelican case – strong and durable. If you'd have studied this entire thread, and read my Post #358, you'd have seen a picture of that carrying case, and read my verification that the Bomb EVF camera with that case.

Steve, believe it or not but I've read your post.
As "everything in life changes" and due to the fact you were the second person to receive your Bomb EVF, I wanted to be sure this carrying case was still reality for the future Bomb EVF owner we are.
Now with Brent's answer, we are all sure that we will also receive our case.

Rather than look silly, I think you guys should take the time to thoroughly read and digest and entire thread before making erroneous claims. I took some time out of my busy production schedule to make my posts on this thread – and it would be appropriate for you to reciprocate by taking the time to study through this thread before making inaccurate posts.

In Red you trust so do I but one thing you have to understand is that sometimes all this amount of info on Reduser.net might be pretty confusing... especially when you're at the end of the line.. or in the middle... I still really don't know where I am in fact!

With all my respect Steve, please, keep on writing your posts as it's always a pleasure to learn from experiences you're sharing but don't be too hard with people who are sometimes a bit lost in this big amount of info that Reduser is.
You truly are an inspiration for all of us and I can't wait to read your first impression with your upcoming Epic-M.

Best regards and sorry for this off-topic...

Thank you for the very kind words Vincent...

After this last post of yours I now understand your reason for re-affirming that the Bomb EVF comes with a case. You'll really like that little hard case - its small, strong, and protects the EVF perfectly for transporting it in your kit bags, backpack, etc. I think its a nice finishing touch by Red to include the case

Unfortunately sometimes those of us who have been around Red User since early 2006 when it was formed tend to forget the mountain of information that newcomers to Red and this forum are faced with learning. I'll try to be more patient with others as they learn.

Cheers!

Thanks for taking the time to answer my previous post Steve.
Keep on the good work!
I can't wait to receive my Bomb EVF, it's a must have to achieve critical focus and this carrying case will be really helpful when traveling.
All the best!

What's the status on these things? My bomb rep says Red is still going through the old EVF backorder. Other people I know claim that Red is already through those numbers. Don't know what to believe anymore. This wait is killing me so badly

No bomb EVf for me so far, ordered late october 2010.

I have a hard time believing the backorder stuff, seeing as to where the bomb evf's are showing up.

Im just bummed out because i sold my evf back in august thinking the bomb was right around the corner..
then I was hearing how they had to fulfill the back ordered evfs.. which is understandable.. but, Im only seeing bombs in the hands of those who have already had their original evfs fulfilled longggg time ago, so i assume they are out of backorder... and my deposit has been sitting in the red bank acct and I have not received an update as to when to expect it:(

please help alleviate my evf frustration...
I want one baddddd

I did what you did Zak. Business mistake... I ordered mine in July 2010 and it sounds like no signs of shipping at all from my point of view. Yea yea yea, I know the Bomb EVF is the Bomb but it doesn't do me a lick of good if it's not in my hands and out on sets.

I wonder if the bomb evf Gibby got with his epic M was ordered before his epic M order or at the same time. My biggest concern is that this is how each part of the dsmc system will be handled. I know they say they learned a lot but people are still waiting a year or more for a crucial piece.

Gibby was one of the 1st to order his... and I don't want to have to explain every single purchase.

Jim

its Jim! Holy Shit... they must be REALLY close... awesome!

I, for one, understand there is NO strategic advantage for your company to withhold shipping items...

I think all anyone wants to know lately in this thread is... what is a typical manufacture cycle for these new EVF? Gibby has had his for a long time now...

What is approximate monthly capacity? 25 to 50 per month? 100? 1000? as that monthly figure times red one owners = demand.. not including Epic Scarlet

is it realistic to believe that these orders will catch up with Epic? OR (hopefully) are they being sand bagged for EPIC orders... OR is this just an item that due to its high quality takes more time to build. ?

really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Im in no rush, because we rock dual montors CINESTYLE and use the original EVF sparingly for shoulder and love it. As Stuart says, its still better than most anything else out there. But I got to peer thru this bad motherfucker in Vegas last year and me wants one!

peace

I understand, Jim. I also appreciate everything you are doing for the industry and the indie. Some of us are so desperate to buy your products we come here everyday hoping we can give you our money.

I've been a believer since day one, just without the funds to jump in. I did mange tO get one RED ONE but am so desperate to upgrade to epic x and purchase at least one epic s.

Thank you again for being here and keeping us mostly informed. If there is anything I can do, other than be patient, let me know.

Jim

One of the first to order when they went LIVE on the store back in July 2010? Because that's when I put a deposit down for mine...

Yeah, that was a pre-production model he was testing. I think the Bomb EVF was the first thing Ketch pulled out of the box in the M8 unboxing video.

EDIT: I ordered mine on Fri, Jul 9, 2010 at 7:02 PM.

I used a prototype Bomb EVF on loan from Red to shooting the classic rock band Heart in concert in early March 2010. I was also a DP for that 6 Red camera production.

As I posted way earlier in this thread, I received my own Bomb EVF in early August 2010. I've been using that one ever since with my Red One cameras, and I've also posted on this thread lots of my impressions of using the Bomb EVF.

The Bomb EVF me and Ketch received with Epic M8 this past Saturday was part of the Epic M purchase package.

I understand a lot of you are anxious to get your Bomb EVF and frustrated at the delays. That said, you're going the wrong direction with your complaints like "Why'd Gibby get his and not me?". There is probably nobody here except Ted Schiliwitz who heard about Jim's dream of Red cameras earlier than I did (mid-2005 directly from Jim). There are only a very few here (Jim, Graeme, etc) who attended and contributed to the very first Red think tank about the camera (Mid December 2005). I was the one who wrote all the early magazine articles about the proposed Red One camera and the new Red company (Studio Monthly, 2006). I was in the very first two guys who stepped up to reserve a Red One camera (April 2006). I received my first Red camera in the very first batch delivered on August 30, 2007 (Red 0008). I bought three more super early Red cameras after that and then pioneered the field use of Red cameras in many genres of production (1st Red 3D production, 1st water housing, 1st underwater footage, 1st multi-Red sports production, producing the first multi-Red field tests, and many more 1sts.)

I didn't see any of you who are complaining back in 2005, 2006, and 2007 doing the things I did, paying the dues I did, and heavily contributing to the early history of Red like I did. And now you don't think I deserve to be at the head of the line for Red products? Get real guys - I do deserve it, plain and simple. If you'd have contributed to Red what I have over these years, you'd deserve it too. Jim and Red have always, and always will, reward loyalty and the brave commitment of their clients - especially those of use who stepped forward and made a leap of faith in those formulate months and years. If you don't like that, well then maybe you should have stepped up like I did way back then. Right?

Red team has done a remarkable job since 2006 of conceptualizing, creating, and bringing to market some amazing products. Could any of you done better - or even come close to what they've accomplished? Really? If Red could have rolled out the Bomb EVF faster they would have. They have consistently explained the delays. I'm asking you guys to reel them out some more slack, accept that they are doing the best they can under trying circumstances, and when you get your Bomb EVF you'll know that it was well worth the wait. Alright?
