Has anyone noticed how beautifully shot and lit this show is?

It has to be one of highest production valued shows on television.

I don't normally post things like this but I am watching series 1 in Australia at the moment and every scene is lit and
shot like a work of art.

To the DOP who is shooting this. Bravo! The style, lighting, art direction, direction and acting is brilliant and I enjoy every frame.

Yep, agreed. Can't wait for Season 2 :)

Not to mention highest budget. $50,000,000.

I believe that figure would be for the season, which as I recall was somewhere between 10 and 12 episodes. That would equate to about $4-5 million per episode. That's a bit high for a one hour series, but not unheard of. Even some broadcast network shows have reached that figure ("Lost" comes to mind), but as I said, it is rather lavish.

Both Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones are hugely impressive. Hats off to HBO and the production teams.

Absolutely stunning-looking show, all shot on 3-perf 35mm negative. I'd be very surprised if they don't walk off with all the Emmy awards this year, especially for cinematography and art direction.
