Hello,

So i just recently switched lens sets. And when using my contax 35-70 f3.5 i have noticed that randomly when shooting with this lens (this is the only lens i have been using since i have been seeing this issue, i dont think its the lens) that the images are very blue. I thought maybe somehow my white balance got changed but in the r3d it says it is at 5000. I have to dial it up to 9000 or more to get a normal looking image.

Is this an issue with the epic? If so has any one seen this before. Is there a way it could be the lens?

Thanks,

Jacob

Are you using the Motion Mount by any chance? Only real thing I can think of that would be happening.

It looks perfectly normal in camera. In premier and red cine x it looks verry blue

There was a bug a long while ago where the Motion Mount would lock a color in the .R3D and simply adjusting the WB any degree would remove it. But that was many builds ago. What version are you running?

I tried adjusting the white balance and i have to move all the way warm to even get close to a neutral image. Version of motion mount or epic firmware? I purchased my epic early this summer and have not had time to update my firmware.

We had a problem long time ago, which sounds similar: camera (epic mx) was rolling and suddenly - middle of the take - the image turned blue. I saw it on the RED LCD and my first thought was, I accidentally mapped White Balance to a user button and kept rolling. later in RC-X i couldn't retrieve the right color information, because in metadata nothing changed.

this happened several times, but the bud did not return in the last two years.

so yes, which firmware are you running?
did you buy your epic from red or 2nd hand?

best wishes and kind regards,
martin

Update your firmware for sure then. It would be nice to know which build you're on for reference too if you have a moment.

I had that issues happen ever so often the entire time I had an MX chip in my Epic. It would only happen when I would change lenses though. Tried to figure out the issue with RED, but it randomly happened up until getting the Dragon. Haven't had it happen in the 9 months of having a dragon.

I remember that one of the quick fixes before the update was to roll your color temp on the camera at least a couple times and then set it to the color temp you want and that sort of knocked the MM info and everything worked fine. But you should update your software and then check to see if it does the same thing. I had the same issue but not anymore from the update after RED Fixed it.
