  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Canon Lens Database

will the 400mm 2.8L work? haven't tried it but the lens is sitting here ready to go, unfortunatly I dont have a red yet, hopefully soon :smile5:

Robert, if you 400mm/f2.8 is the newest model it will work. The older version, which has the focus speed switch, did not work earlier. However, not able to say whether the latests Birger libraries have solved the issue.

Some more lenses:

  • Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L: aperture OK, manual focus only (19x and 20a)
  • Canon EF 300mm f/4 L IS: aperture OK, focus OK (19x and 20a)
  • Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L: NO aperture, NO focus (20a)
  • Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L: aperture OK, focus not testet (19x)

I love the 14, such a nice lens. Its unbelievably good and I l love the distortion less properties. Definitely one to buy.

D-tap option

D-tap option

Erik, do you have any word on when the D-tap will be available?

Sigma 120-300 2.8

Iris yes, lens correctly recognized with lens data, but

no focus control

...I have a RED battery plate. If this is not what people are using, I need to know this. I do not want to design a connector, and contract a mold, only to find out that we have created something that is not universal. Any manufacturers that we should be talking to about getting some sample battery plates from?

Red's battery plates are definitely not the best. Anton Bauer, IDX or Sony V-plates with D-taps are probably more "standard" than Red's! They certainly lock better!

We're using the Switronix double plate if that's of any help. Don't have our Birger yet (Just ordered it this week).

every little bit of iris is worth it; get the Tokina.
