While we thought that RED Dragon was pretty significant news (obsolescence still obsolete) and the new "Tattoo" movie was worth the trip, I will say that we held back one big announcement due to circumstances beyond our control.

The situation in Japan has caused problems for us, current and future, even though the part count is very low for any one of them. Our announcements, from now on, will only be about products that are ready to ship. The RED Dragon program is the last forward looking announcement we will make...

Today we showed Matt's full line of accessories, the new iPad Mission Control, working Scarlet 8x, many post options for RED footage and a great new short film called "Tattoo". It was a great day for us and we got to meet a ton of customers and old friends.

Everything changes. From now on.. So will our announcements.

Jim

Okay ! Looks fair to talk only about products that are ready to ship.

Was great to meet so many RED users today. That's always my favourite bit of NAB.

This is exciting news! When can we get a link to the short film and some images of the iPad App?! I wish I could have been there in person... thank you guys for all your hard work and getting us excited about whats to come. You guys are awesome!

Wasn't the laser projector the other big announcement? Thanks for the hard work and the magic!

Jim, will you still be releasing details about the Epic-X package? As a stage 2 guy, it would be great to know the final package cost, included parts, etc. – even if the timeline is still hazy due to the situation in Japan. Thanks.

Everything I saw today looks freakin' amazing. Can't wait to see Matt's accessories hit the store... my Epic is almost naked!

Everybody is quick to attack... we all do it. It makes a difference when you've seen what the tools and the people behind them are capable of.

Thanks for everything Jim. I understand why you're taking this stand, but I think it's radical. One of the things I, and many others, have always appreciated from Red, is the openess; I'll miss it. I would like to think there's an in-between option, which will help us in our buying decisions. Being in the dark is rarely good...
Cheers,
Damien

Thanks Jim
Was cool seeing you today
And All the Red team
loved all the new stuff and Dragon sounds Epic

Seriously
Ability to upgrade sensors in Epic is as big as Red can deliver
Great work
Get some rest

Thank you

I really enjoyed the old ways, sharing the adventure of development with you guys, but I fully understand the new path.

I think all of us look forward to seeing your exciting new products, whenever they do appear :)

Jim, I'm still looking forward to seeing what RED will bring us even if it is more on "short notice" rather than looking farther into the future. Keep up the great work.

BTW: I'd love to see "Tattoo: the Movie". When can we less fortunate souls get to see it?

Hi Jim, It was great seeing all that you and Red have accomplished . As a non-Red owner who came to NAB (along with a horde of people) hoping to drop our money on the table and join the tribe...we were disappointed at not being able to deposit on an Epic-X. A little forward notice of that would have been great. However, the main thing is you have pulled off an amazing technical feat in Epic and the announcement of Red Dragon program only sweetens the coolness of Red. When I shook your hand today, the first thing I said is I want to buy an Epic. But what I really should have said is you are creating tools that are spectacularly beyond what I thought I would ever be able to shoot a feature with. Thank you. I can't wait until one of these puppies is in my hand. Sorry for letting that emotion overcome when we spoke briefly. Your movie was very cool by the way.

I've renewed my patience. I'm in awe of the technology that companies such as Red, BM, etc are placing at my use.

And, somehow Jim, I have a hard time believing that at the end of the next long night of testing new technology and getting totally stoked you won't post about just how psyched you are on Reduser. Its part of what makes this whole thing so bloody fun.

Cheers,
Paul Nordin

Yeah, I thought the RED Dragon sensor upgrade was freakin significant.

Why is it that the wankers always complain about good news and ruin things for everyone?

Sorry, I'll back off.

because people have different expectations. Please don't call those with general concerns that may cause them irritation 'wankers'. People shouldn't be chastised for intelligently speaking their minds and frustration. Complainers that are just dead-set on the act of complaining, well, that's different. Most of the complaints I have seen are reasonable and warranted. Let them eat cake!

Wish I could have been there again to share the exciting times with the RED Tribe. I had to cancel my trip at the last minute.

Jim, the last few years has been an amazing ride, we are trilled to have shared that with you.

Now we can look forward to that which you have already announced.
My open arms eagerly await Epic.

I really wish I could be there with you guys!
Next year I am all in, hopefully walking around holding my Red Epic M.
Good luck with the rest of the week!

Yes, darn I'm going to miss the forward thinking -- it's a beautiful thing to share in your profound vision, Jim.
Of course, we still will share that to some extent ... but standing next to you and looking out into the horizon like we've been
able to has been mighty fun.

I also do understand that part of your motivation is also to protect Red's reputation from naysayer's who don't understand what it takes
to do what you do, or how difficult it is to predict and then CREATE the future. And I'm sure Red has taken a hit in this sense, which
as Red is now becoming the #1 cinema camera company on earth ... this is the only knock against you. And as #1, with competitors
and haters looking to take you down, you simply can't afford any negative PR.

So I understand Jim, but I encourage you please share whatever you can -- in whatever way you can -- so that we can look forward
with you.

It's priceless.

Anthony
