Beware, lots of scammer try to scam. I was buying a used RED ONE and someone trying to sell me the camera from IL. Price seems very reasonable so decided to buy it, he wants to do everything through paypal thats ok with me. After deciding i need to do some cross check, ask the guy about reduser account. He said he doesn't have it, he is a very low key guy and Camera was a gift from his dad. Seems something wrong. Not having a Reduser account and a RED owner??? So email the serial # to RED Transfer dept to check the real owner coz i will be buying the camera soon. I got eamil back from RED the real owner of the camera and they copied to him(Real owner) also. An hour later i got the call from Australia saying he is the real owner of the camera and he has it in-front of him.
After knowing all of this the guy still asking "So you don't want to buy the camera", and copied both email to the guy. BEWARE!!!!

Scary stuff. Good thing RED's transfer of ownership policies help prevent this kind of sale from going through. Also nice to know it's best to contact RED about any purchase before any cash is exchanged. Thanks.

Has happened twice on ebay Australia that Im aware of.However when someone is selling something well below it's value with zero feedback as a seller, chances are are it's a scam.I have seen exactly the same pic's used to sell the same camera with different sellers,BOTH SCAMS

FYI, I too, have been through something similar with a "reduser" who private messaged me about a lens I was interested in for a lower price than usual. I considered it after he told me his lame story. After several emails back and forth, he insisted that he won't sell unless I pay him THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS through Paypal and mark the payment as a "GIFT" or "MONEY OWED". Yeah right buddy! He then got caught right in the act after I insisted in seeing photos with his user name next to the lens. Instead, he sent me photos of the same lens another REAL reduser had previously sold. All I had to do was google the lens and look on the first page of Images. Idiot!

Just for reference, the users name is "DOUG LAWSON" (http://www.reduser.net/forum/member.php?90994-Doug-Lawson). I reported his first message to Moderator but apparently his fake reduser account is still active and it seems he's online frequently.... attempting to pull off scams like that. I reported the persons yahoo email address to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx) ... and The Dark Knight himself. Justice will be served!

Listen. I am just here to clear my name. If anyone wishes to contact me please do so. I have not sold any fraudulent items nor attempted to. Photos were all originally mine despite what is said here. As you can understand, this frustrates me and I will be posting my items on Ebay for security. I will start a thread that sends you to my RED items that I am selling on ebay when I put them up. I have nothing to hide or lie about. Feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to answer any questions. I do not know why my name is thrown in the mix of this. However, as I have said. I will be selling my things on the secured site of Ebay for now on. But will be more than happy to start a thread to let everyone know about the listings. I just wanted to notify you all and let you know that I am real, here, and I have nothing to hide. Thank you

Yes, that is the person trying to scam me also.

I was saved by this kind of fraud today morning, when i just checked with my friend who was in the same city.I asked Seller to meet my friend in person,he backed off immediately and told me that he do only paypal...the seller is same user by name " DOUG LAWSON". I request RED TEAM to act immediately and ban him from this forum ,I am feared if anyone may fall to the trap.

I was also contacted by "DOUG LAWSON" trying this same aggressive Palpal move, as I am trying to purchase some Lenses. He would not meet my friend where he said he was located (central Illinois). And he would not send me pics or give me any standard contact info. Has anyone else been contacted by him? I also request that he be checked out by the Moderators.

Here's another useful tool for finding if an image has been poached: http://images.google.com/
So awesome, you can just drag an image into your browser window and it will return will URLs hosting the image (or similar images if it is indeed an original).

He has offered to sell me a new Epi X two days ago.with a payment mode option of paypal.

I had a similar situation with a lens. He had pictures, which he could've pulled from anywhere. His knowledge seemed fine, but when he was constantly pressuring me into sending money that very moment I backed off. He also didn't have a RU Account.

I almost fell victim to him too. Prince, was it a 17-50 or an 18-50? He told me he had both, got very very pushy. Also mentioned a REDMote and brick. His knowledge was there.

this was his email: dlawson63077@yahoo.com

I'm really glad I decided to not give into someone so forceful.

Is it to hard to cancel this guy's account? He's going to score one day.
