  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beta Camera Build 3.2.8

Been testing it all morning, and loving it all morning. Other than some crashes here and there, the new features are very welcomed! Here is a 120fps test shot with an 85mm lens > http://vimeo.com/41893795 The 89fps mode is nice too and probably more useful, but I just wanted to see how 120 looked. Maybe as a split screen type of thing it could be useful, but otherwise it's very.....you'll see. Cropping into the sensor that far has it's pitfalls.

Ran into my first serious beta SNAFU on set today with my NON-upgraded Epic-M.

Yesterday I installed the new beta firmware (3.2.8), and all seemed fine.

Today I was shooting and after 5 hours I got an error when i hit the record button, The error was followed with a shutdown-screen that said to contact Red Support. I tried many things including SYSTEM RESTORE (which did not immediately fix the problem). Eventually after 30 minutes of trying various things to regain operational status, it started to record again. Then 30 minutes later the same problem started to happen again. I only had the side-handle attached. I took that off, switched to AC adapter, swapped SSDs (which would format fine) but every time I pressed the RECORD button it would error out and need to shutdown.

I've submitted a bug report to Red Support, and am going to roll back to the latest production release.

Same problem here. I wish there was a solution me it's worse as I have not been able to record at all. Everytime I press record the camera crashes and I am forced to shutdown. I really wanted to test the 120fps. Damn

Seemed fine after the update, and after setting the camera back to the defaults. But today I booted up for the first time and had a red screen. One more time and had a purple screen. Third time was fine.

Redmote Upgrade App not working - please help

Upgraded my Epic to 3.2.8 no problem, but when I try to launch the Redmote upgrade App to upgrade the Redmote, I get a message saying that the app is not supported on this type of Mac. I'm on an Intel MacBook Pro, so I can't see why this should be happening. Tried using the previous terminal version and that didn't work either. Am I stuck without a Redmote, unless I roll back? (My mac had no trouble connecting to Redmote). Thanks for any ideas.

Okay, just tried it on another virtually identical MacBook Pro and it worked. Go figure.

Are you on Mac/PC?

On Mac, double check your network settings (System Preferences -> Network) and make sure your IPv4 settings are changed to manual and you have entered in the correct gateway and IP address as per the manual. The dot next to the device should change from red to green when it is linked.

If that doesn't work, I would try a different USB port on your computer.

On a Mac, It is connected and the settings are correct under System Prefs but it won't connect tot he app. Also doesn't seem to be charging when connected to the computer....

Turn off your wireless airport maybe..

Been working with the phantom power and it works great with my MKH 60 but if I put my Lectrosonics 411 series lavs I can't seem to run both together, one is balanced and the other needs 48V phantom power. Didn't read the manual, anyone got a quick fix for that? I'm running both through Wooden Camera A box XLR, can't seem to separate the channels. I can run two Lectro Wireless lavs but not a combination of the MKH60 and Lectros.

Same problem here. When I hit record I am told to contact Red support and forced to shut down. Bummer. Time to roll back.

Hi,

I tried the force_upgrade procedure to 3.2.8 beta and it seemed to upgrade fine. However my force_preset to enable HDMI output with menus that support sent me for my Scarlet 3.0.0 no longer works. So I rolled back using force_upgrade to 3.0.7 release and the force_preset for HDMI w/ menus works fine. Do I need a new force_preset file? I only have a HDMI monitor and Side Handle.

You will need to get a new preset file for 3.2.x.

We just upgraded to this as there were some features we would like to use but don't want any issues, How stable is this release fro Epic X and should we continue to use it ?

I'm surprised no one else asked about this feature yet, it must be really simple.

Could someone explain the new feature:

* Added Post Record Fan Delay (max 1 minute)

Thanks
