  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Maks, Piotr,
Thanks for that update even if it doesn't reply to our most important question: when will we receive our unit?
Great job on the Grip but, I speak for myself, I've already backed up one of your product more than a year ago and so far it didn't pay so I won't participate to this Kickstarter campaign...
BTW Piotr, which decisions are you talking about? What is V2? Did I miss something?

+1 vincent, not a single € sent to ACR until i have a fully working gimbal in my hand.
Piotr, Max. once again please give us a shipping schedule. i'm probably one of the few who don't care about a better power plug or power management, working with the gimbal now have way more value.
if you have BS4 with the old electronic laying around please ship them to those who don't want to wait another 6 month. i'll gladly pay a small fee to get it upgraded later if it's worth it.

Hey Vincent,

I believe Maks and Piotr are referring to the following which was posted 05-05-2015, 09:38 AM. From what I remember, all whom replied agreed to wait (myself included). You may or may not have seen this. Piotr also added that they expect to ship 24 units. I hope this helps clarify.

Hello,

We would like to ask for your opinion.

We have received information concerning problems with power on The Beast and requests to perform modification of power plugs to LEMO standard that you are all expecting.

We would like to solve those issues before shipping next batch of units. We would need to redesign electronic board, only the one that is controlling power output and engines. It is important as it will improve reliability of entire unit.

The new board will have listed benefits:
- 5A 14.8V output,
much better for fully rigged gimbal - may power up RED, Teradek/Paralinx and FIZ/FF;
- less errors on sensor data lines,
previously close location of power lines have created those errors in particular situations;
- much better mainboard heat management,
thanks to completely redesigned power solution;
- slightly less power usage,
non-noticable when only gimbal is powered, up to 20% longer battery lifetime when power outputs are used heavily;
- much better power efficiency when powering additional equipment from gimbal.
- electronic fuse for safety purposes,
it will also secure all devices connected to Traxxas shelf connector as well as all devices connected to DC on vertical arm;
- much easier service with connectors and without soldering (on mainboard).

All units that were send up to this time will be upgraded to new version during visit in our service - those modifications will be performed for free for those that will decide to send units to us. We will instal LEMO plugs at the same time.

Additional changes:
- DC input changed to LEMO;
- DC output changed to LEMO;
- DC input may be used also as DC output;
- DC output may be also used as DC input.

Our question to you is as follows. Will you agree to this proposition as it will create additional delay:

1 week - finalization of mainboard v2 project
1 week - preproduction board tests
2 weeks - PCB manufacture
1 week - electronics surface mounting
1 week - mainboard assembly, flashing, testing gimbals, shipping
---
6 weeks total

You will receive the final product you all were expecting to receive that will be cured from all childhood illness.

If any of you will be interested in speaking about our proposition in more direct please contact me at peter@acr-sys.com

Best
Peter

So what happens to those of us who have an original Beast (and, in my case. a 'not very' functional DC power system?).

Andy,

That's a good question. Hopefully Maks or Piotr will address your question by weeks end. It's my guess there will be some sort of upgrade program coming soon (just a guess)?

Thanks for the head up Rion.

There are so many updates from ACR/BeSteady that I probably don't have the time to read them all ;)

I think I won't even be included in that next 24 units batch, my number in lien is still far away... I'd really hope we could move on and receive our unit or our money before summer but this story will probably last another 6 months.

You can send it back Andy...

Ahh - missed that - guess we'll await more detailed info from M & P.

I'm sure they'll update... one thing though, if it's now lemo rather than DC, does that mean we'll need new large batteries with the appropriate connector?

Hi,

yes, that is correct. We will have time to prepare 24 units during that time. This is safe assumption from our side, but I would prefer to have good information for you than bad. So I will be contacting next 24 persons in line to confirm delivery details.

I will be posting updates about progress of our work.

What ever happended to getting the outstanding RED group accesories?

It is my understanding that the accessories will be sent after all of the folks in the group buy receive their base units. Call it phase 2 in a manner of speaking.
Everything considered, that seems fair.

In addition, the focus right now is said to be working out any issues discovered in the first shipment so that all the following units do not need to be returned for what would be a universal fix.

Frustrating beyond anything I would have ever imagined. Yoda would preach patience. At least you have a bird in hand - the rest of us are trampling through the bushes.

It has been 3 weeks since this post. Are things still on schedule? 3 more to go hopefully.
Thanks

Would like to know as well. Or should I use my trusted BS formula? If so, 6 weeks x 5.84 = about 35 weeks. So are will still on schedule to ship in 32 weeks? Bueller?

hehe, good one Ryan.
by the way the grip/link kickstarter campain expire in four days but is still far from being funded. i hope that if it fails it doesn't mean more trouble for us...

If ACR had gotten our units in our hands before starting that campaign, I'm sure they would have blown past their goal.

well but then it would probably also getting these way later then the actual Besteady four - if they fund and produce now it is gonna be quicker in everybody's hands. no matter of delays with the Four Before.
