  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

For the moment we have to be firm on this and say we won't be offering it as an upgrade option. Later down the line we could look into DC to Lemo adapters or a retrofitted upgrade but for now we should avoid anything that could result in even further delays to assembly.
Hope you all understand.

Understand.
Please share the info on the connector types and pinouts so I can make the necessary cables for my BS4.

Hey Piotr,

Ill be in EU next couple weeks on a shoot and was wondering if I could drop by and meet you and your hard working team?

Thank you,

Thanks Pro for your feedback.
I must agree with you this time (even when that's mean not to implement an improvement)
I really feel we must receive what your company promised, no less, no more. Delays are killing us all.

1. Please: can u estimate when our first unit will be back to us ? (cable damage or loose, apparently)
2. Please: can u confirm the calendar for delivery is maintained and we will receive ours 2 + 2 remaining units according the expected dates?

Thanks a lot...

Hey Dario,

Let me follow up with assembly after the weekend so I can give accurate answers. From what I know I can tell you repairs/upgrades should be complete within 7 working days of receiving the unit. After that we'll be shipping it back express. We don't anticipate a delay to the schedule but I want to wait until we repair at least 2 units to see what kind of impact it has on assembly.

I'll also be aiming to post an update on the cable pack.

Having some better results with basic use, but not good results when inverted mode.

For under slung as before I balanced the camera, but nearly perfect this time. I increased the pan strength to 50 as they described below. This was after running autotune.

The beast seemed to be panning without jitters, but acts strange sometimes when only using the center handle.

Max suggested :
"In this case please check Pan balance and Pan strength settings. If you are using RED + lightweight lens + small side handle batt probably around 50% would be perfect.
Filter 33%, default setting will be OK also. Or just use Autotune. In case of Autotune it is crucial to have perfectly balanced setup."

Next I tried inverted mode, and could get get it to start inverted until I shut off the auto calibrate on start. Then it recognized that it was inverted, but the pan axis started to spin around at full speed like a roulette wheel and I had to manually stop it.

Are you supposed to loosen the handles and flip them upside down first so you can invert it on the stand?

Either there's something wrong with the gimbal or software, or perhaps the procedure for starting inverted needs better detailed instructions? Let me know.

I expect to send it back of course for the major fixes, but I want to work with it as much as I can within my schedule in the next few days.

Also I notice that the tray is very difficult to move up and down on the vertical rods. Very tight and its scratching the numbers already. Hard to get both sides aligned when you can't fine tune the position without a lot of force.

Not sure if that is user adjustable with the hex on the inside of the rod holders?

I'm dedicating all weekend to testing the BeSteady VS the MōVI M15. I'll start a new thread once my testing is complete.

I'll post some observations as I discover them here too.

For instance, I just discovered that we will need no less than four chargers in our kit, not one. One charger will get me through this test, but four chargers will be essential on any shoot.

I've fallen in love with my M15 and Dragon combo. I took it out of the box, balanced it and turned it on, work with no further tweaks, worked like a charm, so awesome. later I installed the OSX client and did an auto tune just for shits and giggles and behold it worked even better and was so responsive it was sick. Looking forward to your tests Carey.

Just waiting for my last batteries to finish charging and I'm ready to rock. I'm going to start with the M15 since it seems to be simple to get up and running, then I'm going to try to apply my knowledge of what I learn from that to the BS4. As best I can. So far, I have the MōVI dock mounted to a C stand and I love it. The BeSteady stand needs a work-around to get it to function similarly.

So there are 11 Rigs out in the wild -2 of them not working, how about the Rest. Besides Davids Videos which vanished with the old thread, nobody else shot anything yet with his BS4 ?
Would be great to see some footage from users finally, or did nobody get the Rig to run properly ??

Today is 10/20.

I've had no shipping confirmation emails, so I'm assuming the third batch has been delayed? BS please confirm.

There is no holiday today in Poland AFAIK -http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/poland/

So, a few things changed for me, unexpected things happened and i have to re-evaluate my priorities...

Can anyone tell me in short what the situation is when i jump out of the GB? I missed the talk about refunds in the other thread.

The 10/20 deadline has come and gone without any updates, again. Macs and BS crew- I'm very, very disappointed, and I no longer trust you. I'm requesting a full refund. Will send you an official request in email.

Enough is enough.

Hello all,

As a gimbal owner / op for over a year now I thought I'd weigh in again while these final details are sorted out.

While M10 and M15 are solid today, it should be noted that it took Freefly years to develop and work the bugs out - which we're at the end stages of now with the B4.

I think it's also fair to also note that B4 has many features M15 does not, including; internal cabling, power routing directly to the camera shelf, tool less adjustments, a voice led display panel and more - at what will probably be around half the price of M15 *without* case, cables, etc. to the GB members.

While I am as frustrated as any of us, it does feel like we're in the final stage before B4 is 100% reliable (like the MoVI) and hope we can all find a little more patience while the loose power cable issue are handled.

Hope this helps and am looking forward to hearing more about Carey's tests.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Agreed PC. It will cost me over 1.5k to get my M15 to have all of the abilities of the BS4. Power, cabling, Pelican case etc. We will need (4) chargers total for our BS4's, and not just 1. Hopefully BeSteady will accommodate this need at no extra charge.

As far as my testing... I was rocked by a terrible flu last night, while setting up my M15, and have been in bed ever since. I plan to pick up where I left off tomorrow, after a good nights rest.

Hi carey,

I'm sorry to hear you are ill, I hope you get better soon. When you have a moment would you mind giving more details about the need for four chargers? How many large batteries would you estimate we would need to run a fully loaded Dragon rig?

Thanks

Really BS Team, this is unbelievable you past a deadline AGAIN and don´t even leave a comment here about the situation.
I need to know when the 3 batch will ship right now!!! Otherwise ill requesting a full refund to buy a gimbal from a trustful company.
It can´t be, you guys still didn´t learn a thing about dealing with your customers after all this mess…

BeSteady is claiming that 2 large batteries should run a Red Epic all day. If one runs low, you can always hot swap them.

We need 4 chargers for the night, to charge all 4 batteries at once.

Hello all,

I'm am trying to get up to date with all info from engineering and the assembly team to give an accurate update on the timeline of BS4 packages and accessories. I know that 4 returned units have already been repaired and will be shipping out soon.

Units that were already partly assembled were affected more by the upgrade to new encoder cabling as they had to be disassembled first and then rebuilt. New units won't suffer as the upgrade is integrated into the build process.

I will discuss with Peter today who has a much more intimate understanding of the shipping schedule. I've also talked to Max about trying to increase the number of units in shipping batches to help us catch up. I'm here to help you guys and keep you informed so keep asking questions and I'll do the best to provide answers.

I've yet to have a discussion with Jason on sponsorship so another issue we'll be addressing is setting up a GB thread on our own forum so discussion can continue in the interim.
