  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Best shoulder rig for the best price

Biggest bang for the buck is the battle tested clutch but the most economical point of entry is the women camera.

a shoulder rig under 1000$ just to support the camera to create the perfect balance to remove shakiness. that's the main thing

When talking with Matt at NAB, we were both commenting on how one doesn't really need anything if you were to be using the quad battery module. A simple foam pad would be sufficient if you had the side handle. That's about as bare-bones of a shoulder support as you're going to find. Cheap too, way under $1,000.00.

The problem is to position your viewfinder where the operator can see it...

We make this shoulder rig for over 3 years. Maybe our products aren`t the best and cheapest, but they are very comfortable and have great performance.
We suggest these set-up:

$300 total: $1000

$750

$1030

All of these setup has a 10" dovetail which can use on tripod.
If you choose our Dual Bridge plate, you won`t need the 10" dovetail and can get lowest center of gravity.
If you don't use EVF, here we also have some small accessories which can let you change the position of LCD to handle.
Please see the below of this page:

Big thumbs up for the Allstar Arri-H setup with extension arms. I use it with RED quick release dovetail and it rocks. I attach my EVF to one of the extension arms. It is a very solid rig. No flex what so ever. With camera attached I can pick up the rig by one grip and have no worries.

-can find chinese knock-offs for much less BTW.

your usual choice of bottom plate and front 15mm rod mount bracket (hint: ViewFactor is having a sale) and battery plate (mine is WoodenCamera)

Because the camera "floats" on the upper rods, the tripod plate stays in place underneath base plate, even when rigged to shoulder pad, so its a pretty quick slide-on/off to reconfigure. Would get an extension plate for the rear of the Pad and mount the A-Lock to that, permitting the battery to sit further down on your back to give better balance. Front heavy as configured here, even with my 150Wt Bricks. PIX helps!

SHAPE stuff is sold thru (eg) Adorama, so no need to buy off their Canadian site and hassle with shipping, etc.
FWIW they DO make a Scarlet/Epic preconfigured rig too! But, man, serious $$...
