Hi ,
I have been working with the RED Cam since 1 year and Half now , and I got rid of working with 16mm and 35mm cause of lots of things in the RED camera , the most important thing was the easily flow of material right away , no need to develop the rolls and then Telescene
I faced lots of challenges concerning the Post Production and working flow for the Red Rushes
the first mistake I made was working on the "PROXIES" quicktime files given inside the folder beside , I used to work with the Proxy_m as an offline edit on FinalCut and after finishing I reconnect the media from _m to _f "Full Quality" then Coloring and grading then final export to TV broadcasting

First time I used RED camera m the Equipment company where I rented the cam from them gave me ProRes "or" Quicktime Exports from REDcine and I worked on post the same I used to be , yet I felt there is something missing in the quality itself , so I chose to go another workflow which gives me the best quality out of it
I started editing on the proxies
then I finished editing and REALLY DUNNO WHAT TO DO !!!!
A friend of mine who works on After effects told me to export an XML and he can import it in Adobe premier then send it to After effects
If anyone can tell me how to :
work on REDcine with only the timeline exported from FCP with no need to render all the Rushes .. just the cuts I made
Color and grade the R3D files "Reconnect them" and Export the FULL QUALITY "FCP-RCX" Workflow
notice all my final outputs are Music videos which are going to be broadcasted on tv
I desperatly need an answer
thank u my RED team ;)

Hello Mazen, you'll need to

1. export an XML of your offline edit from FCP
2. "send" this edit (with or without handles) to a REDCINE-X timeline or bin
3. do your color correction in REDCINE-X
4. render to higher quality quicktime files (full debayer, 4K, 2K, 1080 or whatever resolution you wish to conform to)
5. "re-conform" those new clips/subclips (only the edited part will be rendered) to your original FCP sequence
6. add titles, fx, audio-mix etc

you will need some 3rd party tools to do step 2. and step 5.

You can do all this (and more) with the great clipfinder 2.5 app :
http://www.daun.ch/hamingja/clipfinder2.5.html

you can also try some applescripts I wrote just to do this kind of workflows :
XML2RCX to send xml to REDCINE-X
RCX2XML to conform back to FCP

Hope this helps

Mikael

Thank you Mikael .. I will try it now and tell you the results..
But I would prefer not using Clipfinder 2.5
Ill try these other applescript u wrote
thanx mate
