  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello,

I bought a battle tested Red scarlet from RED 2 weeks ago and the camera body has more then 10 paint scratches around the body.

We finally got back the truckload of Epic Dragons and Scarlet MXs from the military thing… Selling them off as “Battle Tested”.. less than 5 hours of use on each camera. All checked out as new and comes with battle-tested Warranty. Dragon M-s $21,500, Scarlet Dragons $11,500 ( only a few left ) , and Scarlet MXs $7100 includes side SSD and Canon mount. First come, first serve like last time… This deal wont appear on our website.. you need to email orders@red.com or email/call your RED rep.

What would you spect to get after readin that ad? If I were to post a camera on ebay I would describe the condition and everything?

All of our Battle Tested products meet a set standard, items we sell online we advertise the following "RED Battle-Tested products have gone through a rigorous evaluation and factory-refurbishment process to meet product performance specifications. Products may include some minor cosmetic blemishes and carry a RED Re-Certified Warranty of 90 days from date of delivery." As this was a special deal not through our we still advertised as Battle Tested. Please let me know if you have any concerns.

Battle tested, as the name implies, to me would suggest that scratches could appear. Sometimes a bit worse sometimes not so much. It's all just cosmetic.
The bottom of my scarlet got scratched relatively heavy the first time I gave it to a fellow camera man for a shoot. Such is life ;)

I'm waiting for the Red monitor and the other parts to run the scarlet and I'm assuming that the camera will have less then 5 hours of use like the add said.

Also, The Scarlet to Epic upgrade in not available for me. Why is that?

If RED says it has 5hrs or less runtime, then that's what it has! They have no reason to misinform. Again, you got an AMAZING DEAL. I'd consider yourself very lucky, as...from what I understand...most of these cams sold out VERY QUICKLY.

In the past, Battle Tested Scarlets have been elegible for upgrades, I assume yours eventually would be too.

Was yours a Scarlet MX or a Scarlet Dragon. The Scarlet Dragons are not eligible to a Epic upgrade I believe.

BT Scarlet-MX can be traded or upgraded.
 
I received my BT Scarlet last week as well. It has some minor scratches and what not but it still produces an unblemished image (what really counts!)
 
Got my BT Scarlet MX last week. Fully functional camera, minor cosmetic blemishes, even less hours of operation, astounding price. Couldn't pass up this deal, and I'm more than happy with it.
