I remember seeing it somewhere in this Forum:
a Red Volt Battery attached to a plate at the back.
At that time, I was not interested (or did not have an Epic yet), but now, I am searching for a way to use my Red Volt Batteries WITHOUT the DSMC Sidehandle, because I seldom need it.
Thanks

Innocinema/Action Products, is working on, but hasn't released what you are talking about - they had a proof of concept at NAB 2012.

Yes I remember seeing that. I have a feeling they may have abandoned it. But I could be wrong. It was able to hold 2 small redvolts. Whats strange is that it looks like the reduser thread on the NAB products have vanished?

Here's the video anyway.

The reason why I posted this question; I saw a photo of it, a single Red Volt mounted at the back... been digging through the Forum 1/2 day but could not find it anymore.
Technically, I am sure, it will not be that hard to build....take a Travel Charger, rewire and put it on a mount. An other reason why I don't want to use the Side Handle, with the handle mounted, it does not fit into my Pelican case. To mount/unmount the Side handle every time I take out the camera would be very time consuming and troublesome.

I don't remember seeing such a module. In any case the side handle does attach very easily and quickly if that helps. Also, if you were to make a single redvolt battery mount using the existing charger, it would be roughy the same size as the small Anton bauer battery. Just an idea.

Hmm, something to consider.... have not looked at the AB batteries. I have now 6 Red Volt and 4 Travel charger. Perfect for traveling! At home I use the Red Bricks and the Battery Clip.
My shooting is a bit different, I get the camera out of my bag 10-20x (or more) a day... mounting and dismounting the sidehandle would really take time and would 1. wear out all connecting parts and 2. the part on the camera, where the side handle is mounted, would be unprotected, otherwise I would screw every time the original plate to its place... too much work involved.

Perhaps looking at your bag could prove an easier solution. What type of pelican case are you using?

The suitcase type.... but this is not the only problem, I try to travel with the least amount of gear. And I find the Sidehandle clumsy, quite heavy and I never use it except for holding the battery. Besides the looks of the cam.
While everybody tries to stuff the cam with accessories, I try to have the min amount needed on the camera just to make it run.

I hear you. I never use my touch screen as I find it also clumsy with handheld. I use the EVF, but then I prefer the side handle to actually hold the camera as well as use the it as the battery.

As I say, everybody has a different use. I Never use Handheld. Every shot is locked down. I do not have an EVF, I use only the touch screen. I find it confusing, when I pull the cam out of my carrying bag (not Pelican) on the sidehandle and by accident push 1 button and then don't know which one it was. And I might miss a happening because of that (as previously, when screen turned some odd color and I missed the shot). I really dislike the sidehandle for most of my shoots.
If I want to go handheld.. well, then yes, I would love it. It also lays well in the hand. But from my bag to the tripod is a very short distance.

Fair enough. BTW, Press the 1 and 4 buttons on top of the side handle at the same time to lock keys. Repeat to unlock. There are settings in the Keys dialog to allow some functions to continue even when locked - like the record button.
