is that an EPIC car?

He he I wish I did it, but I only shape some surfboards (although I use similar top coat paint)

This is "Sesto Elemento" ... and it is for real!
Almost everything is carbon fiber, even wheels and exhausts. Only 999 kilograms.
It goes much farther then Revention

I like the front but not the back, the hexagonal holes or whatever they are seem a little tacked on and I loathe spoilers.
Looks as though it might face a similar flaw to the countach as well where to back up the car you have to open the door and lean out the side of the car.

It certainly has an aggressive modern style.

These days though I'm waiting for a new car that looks great, does 0-100 in 5 seconds, yet is environmentally friendly and gets 100+mpg, and costs under $30,000 USD.

Everything else seems like recycled ideas to me.

Good luck getting that...BUT, you can get a camera that goes from zero to 5000 pixels in less than 12 seconds, runs on a palm size battery for over 40 minutes, weights less than 5 pounds, and costs less than $30K USD. Honestly, if given the chance to own the above envisioned car or the camera I describe, I'll go for the camera, AND the camera is available now!

Hmmm... let me think about it for a minute... OK! I'm in!

Not trying to knock the Lambo too much, just hoping that there will, at some point, be a revolution in the auto world similar to how RED is shaking up the world of motion pictures.

As someone who's used carbon fiber for years on everything from camera rails to bicycles to helmets to diving fins to you name it, can you imagine the repair bill on that thing if you happen to shred some panels, which is far easier than people think? Anyways, Lambos are my thing, had a Miura a few years back, beautiful machine but could never drive it...

Repair is simple, you will only need a snad paper, epoxy resin, CF cloth and some tools (maybe vacubagging) ... and some knowledge - easy to find on net and youtube :biggrin5: Only final sanding is bit annoying, but at the end good paint shop will finish it with matt 2pac paint and car is back in shape.

These days hobbyist built quite complicated structural things from CF at home. Even racing yachts with vaccum infusion technology, which is used in aerospace industry (Boeing, Airbus, NASA, ESA, ...)

this dude is making quite nice CF bicycles http://www.bmeres.com/index.htm

Of course, at Three and a half Million ($US) per copy, if you can afford the car, you can afford the repair bill.

It apparently using a new variant of carbon fibre, dubbed 'forged carbon'. It was developed at the University of Washington, Seattle in a programme jointly sponsored by Lamborghini S.p.A. and Boeing.

It's just as light, almost as stiff and 1/3 of the cost. The main saving seems to come from avoiding the need to autoclave (bake) the material. It is initially vacuum packed and then pressed under a 80t load.

Interesting. But I guess only inner frame and maybe wheel rims are made this way from chopped fibers?

Here is video of whole process from Audemars Piguet

and final product

From second video it looks like they use no epoxy resin for bonding but they only melt polyamid fibers, which are entangled around carbon fibers, in owen and then compress it hot while cooling mould down with water.
