  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bad Dragon Sensor

Yes, they try to make things fair. I'd def get equipment insurance though and red armor from now on. Downgrading to Raven or a scarlet w if repair costs are too great wouldn't be the worst strategy I'd guess cost wise? I've had boards die before too but fortunately nothing major cost wise. My Alexa mini needed a full sensor replacement upon my purchase so stuff happens regardless of branding

Hope this works of well for you. It always was in the back of my mind that it was perilous doing a sensor upgrade and only getting a 90 day warranty. Made me wonder why they had so little faith in their sensors.

I have not even finished paying off that repair and my camera took an unfortunate fall. It cracked the front the lens but there was still a picture on the camera but with an error. There were no cracks on the body other than on the handle. I sent it into Red for an evaluation and they say i have to repair Sensor assembly, Uppor IO board, Dragon sensor board.

After the fall the camera was showing a picture but had an error message and upon reboot wouldn't come up. Before that there didn't appear to be anything wrong with the sensor and the picture looked fine. How can i spent $22K in one year on repairs for a camera?

I just looked at the repair bill I was sent and it looks EXACTLY the same as the one I received last year except one board was different. Mind you these are completely different issues that I sent the camera in for.

Do you have insurance? You need to get insurance with this kind of equipment. RED Armor is one layer, but insurance is an essential. I have no reason not to trust the tech guys at RED, and I believe they're all honest -- but I wouldn't drive a $11k car around without insurance and trust the car manufacturer to cover me.
