Back focus question...

Hi Guys

For those of you that swap from PL to Nikon mounts regularly, do you leave marking points for quicker adjustment each time, so go from A to B? Or do you adjust back focus with charts each time you swap it out?

As you set the back focus to your PL then the nikon should be pretty dead on as well.
We got a red focus and when it's set on the pl then swapping back and forth have not changed the back focus. Also on Nikon and Canon I do not find it so important.

So you're saying the back focus should be identical for both mounts? Thats good to know.

I was under the impression you had to adjust back focus each time you changed mounts to make sure it was 'dead-on-balls' sharp.

I second this question- we own a Canon mount but rarely use it (normally we're shooting with PL) as we've been warned about having to adjust back focus every time. I've looked into getting a RED focus but the fact that they only off a PL option confuses me even more, and I've yet to find a definitive guide to when/ how back focus can be thrown off... can anyone confirm?

Temperature can rise this issue. If you go for some extremes...
I'm swapping PL and Nikon almost every week. No problem with back focus.

Set it for your PL Mount with your widest angle lens, or a Red Focus type tool.
Stills lens marks aren't accurate anyway - just check you can focus at infinity or beyond on your stills lenses and you're good to go.

Note if using lenses, the lens could be out of specification, or not match other lenses in a set.

Red have machined them all to tight tolerances anyway.
