Post imported 4k black magic b cam footage changed the names of the transcoded material within the avid and when I export the AAF import it in resolve and try selecting the 4k raw it won't go online when I select folders nor when I manually drag mags to the media pool. Is this because they logged the transcodes within avid? What else might the cause be if not this? Thanks! Ps new to round trips sorry for the newb query

When importing or AMA linking to footage in Media Composer, the original file name is being tracked in the "Source File" column. It is quite common for post to rename the "Name" to something more useful such as Scene-Take. Look in the Media Composer bin for Source File column, or add it to your view and see that it matches what is being identified as REEL in Resolve.

They should never, never, never change file names. Changing metadata is fine (and encouraged). Changing file names can be catastrophic in post.

Agreed - unfortunately lots of errors are made when making dailies and not assigning the proper REEL. The errors starts right up front.

I remember that you gave years ago a very interesting conference on that subject and about best practices.
Don't remember if it was in Las Vegas, not sure, but there was a youtube video very informative
of the all conference that I unfortunatly lost.
