Having a ball busting time trying to get footage into MC 5.5. What transcode settings should I select for a high quality 16x9 image that the editor can ingest? I tried the DNXHD 185 setting in Redcine X 454 and it produced a folder for each clip with a .xml and .mxf files inside but the editor said he could not ingest it?

I also have Resolve is it possible to output MC 5.5 freindly files as well?

Unfortunately the editor is not technical so not getting alot of help from their end.

HELP :-)

Sure you can use Resolve if you have the DNxHD update. This permits you to read and write all the DNxHD formats.
Just load the r3d in the media pool and in the render page set the file type to the DNxHD codec you are looking for.

Round trip with MC 5.5 works well with Resolve 8.1, due shortly, so you can also edit in the MC and bring the AAF back into Resolve to reconform the original r3d files for the final grade.

If you need to then go back to the MC Resolve 8.1 can export the AAF.

In the meantime, rendering DNxHD works today if you have that Resolve update.

Tom Redcine X does not work on a MAC for AVID DNX

If you put your rocket card in a PC and do the same it works fine. There is the only work around and I use this method everyday

succesfully transcoding here on a mac in dnxhd everyday.
my settings.
export-aaf/mxf-dnxhd-output.
with 25p material i disable the audio under options.

select output folder.
there you have now a aaf and mxf folder.
move it to the media files/1 folder and import the files natively into avid.

.MXF work perfect if you put them into the Avid Media Files Folder then use the Media tool to add them into your library. I happily enjoy only one short transcode from RedCine-X on a mac.

Too Hard! I transcode about 1/2 Terrabyte a day and even though that process works.. 99% of the EPIC material I have has audio in it and that work around takes too much time. It is much easier putting the ROCKET card into a PC as everything works fine.

NOTE THIS PROBLEM IS FOR 25P only for some reason and RED claim its an AVID SDK problem.. I cant see how it could be as the PC version works fine

Also on the MAC version you sometimes get an error in AVID staying "Timecode too long" and the pics are garbled

It is an Avid SDK problem that is used by REDCINE to generate the MXF and AAF. It is on the list to fix and update as soon as the resources free up.
