Recording a test project. I hear audio when recording and see meters moving. Im not hearing audio or see anything on meters when playing back. Is this normal? Or did my audio not record?

I think there is no audio playback so far, or? if it is it must have been introduced on the very most current build. So, check so you have it when / if you have it when playback in the computer you are fine

I think I will be adding a ZOOM to my Scarlet package.

All is fine, there is no audio playback in camera at the moment, but it is being recorded to SSD.

No need to panic as it will most likely magically appear at any time, along with other improvements. In other words, the issue will probably go away before you can solve it by other means!

Well that's good to hear. Recorded externally for the rest of the shoot to be sure. Scared the crap out of me and I didn't have a laptop on hand to check the files. I'm ok with no audio on playback, just give me some indication that its there.

Ok I checked all my clips in Redcine and all is well. Audio sounds great actually. Had a Shure SM89 going through a phantom box and into my scarlet via A-box. Everything is clean and crisp.

I use the Atomos Samurai to check audio.

It's horrible if you record an interview and can't check the audio signal after recording. Sorry but I can't believe that the Audio playback function is something for what you have to ask for...

Cheers
Thomas.

well to be fair, we've never actually had to ask for it. Its been promised to come from Day-One. I think the amount of stuff they keep adding and correcting is pretty heroic myself. I suspect there is no one at RED who wouldn't LOVE to be pushing this feature (and more) out the door Yesterday....

True but it wasn't until recently that you could even playback in camera.

Secondly this is a movie camera and typically you are recording sound separately.

On one BIG IMPORTANT NOTE. Others and myself have recently had issues where the sound will be recorded but then be recorded with problems such as skipping. I just shot a music video and about half of the audio is skipping which means i have to try my best and sync up what they are saying by watching their mouths. Definitely a pain in the ass and shouldn't be happening. :nonod:

Nick, Just a thought but is the limiter turned off. had this problem with skipping myself and found that with the limiter in camera off it went away. had to set levels correctley but no skipp.

yes George is right, audio will sound like its"skipping" if the limiter is in on the camera, its a pretty severe limiter that back down your audio rather severely
