I just powered the RED on and notices the channel 1 audio jack is red and isn't receiving audio from my mic. I tried turning the channel and camera on and off and it hasn't fixed it. Using rode videomic with stereo to mono plug and 2.0.5 firmware. Thoughts? Set to cam analog unbalanced

Have you tried re-inserting the mic when it's powered up? There is a bug in 2.0.5 where the mic status was sometimes not reflected properly on startup. 3.0.0 has a fix for the startup issue.

I'm on a job right now so can not update firmware. I've tried unplugging and changing batteries. The button next to channel 1 is red, but when I switch it to pro I/o it turns green

The correct setting is cam analog unbalanced set for channels 1/2. What do you have for the audio in and audio out settings?

Also you need to have unbalanced cables or it won't work. A stereo cable will not work. Phantom power also does not work. A lot of people either get the red XLR to mini cables, or they use and ABOX from wooden camera.

I was set at cam analog unbalanced for 1/2. The buttons next to channel 1 and 2 were turned red when on that setting, then would turn green if I switched to other settings, but would obviously not work with my mic. The audio in and out were turned on and set at +18 dec and -60 dec. I tweaked every setting and sound level but got nothing.

What bothers me is that it worked the night before, with the Rode Videomic and the stereo-mono 1/8" jack. The channel 1 button was green and had audio levels, and when I put it in my computer it sounded great. If anyone has any solutions that would be great, since I have to use it again tomorrow. I'll try reflashing the firmware in the meantime.

Red, if you are listening, can you please post some further guidance on using the audio jacks? The non-standard wiring has resulted in a lot of confusion on this forum and the Scarlet manual doesn't elaborate much (eg, it doesn't even say whether the inputs are stereo or mono (NB: they're mono balanced/unbalanced menu-switchable)). I spoke to two sound engineers, showed them the wiring in the manual and the forum discussions here and even they were confused about how to deal safely with stereo signals in the event phantom power is re-enabled. I know from trial and error the Hosa XLR3F cable (but not standard XLR to 3.5mm cables) will allow us to plug in non-phantom powered mono XLR mics. With stereo signals and balanced mono I've got no idea and who knows what will happen if phantom power is enabled in a future firmware upgrade. Are some people's work around wirings going to blow the camera's audio board? I thought I knew a bit about sound but this issue has shown me I don't really... I'd prefer to stick to cinematography and just follow your directives. Can we please have some guidance?

I installed the newest firmware and now it works, but only if I have the mic plugged in before I turn the camera on.

+1

All I've really been going on so far is advice from fellow redusers (which I appreciate indefinitely, you guys rock!). But that will not hold up in the eyes of RED if I take the wrong advice and damage my camera in the process.
