I have had an early version of the new audio board in my camera for testing for a few weeks and I am really happy with the improvements. I have used it on real world jobs, I mean people really made commercials with it and it sounds great. I am glad I can talk about it now, it is really impressive. Really clean phantom power now my favorite mic sounds as good as if I did use an MM1, which was my phantom power pre-amp choice previously.
Jarred,
If you have a camera reservation number after September when the new audio boards are being installed in the earlier reservation numbers, will that audio board be included with your camera, as would the new pl mount, and I pin upgrade? Hypothetically speaking, what if your reservation number is so far back, that when you start taking cameras in for the sensor upgrade, will that be installed in the new shipping cameras or will it be the extra (x amount) of dollars to have the new sensor in your camera?
correct ( If i am reading your question correctly )
Shipping cameras will ship with the upgrades already installed.. most likely a week or two earlier than the upgrade program begins.
I think this deserves its own thread.
Several people have asked both Erik and Jarred/RED about the implications of the new i Pin update for third party mounts, especially the Birger mount. And so far no responses.
I would like to know what the i Pins program changes physically on the RED? Will it make the process of changing mounts more difficult/easier? I would very much appreciate if someone at RED could answer this a s p. My number is soon coming up. Since there are so many wonderful renderings of upcoming cameras and accessories, it would be really nice if RED also could post an illustration of how the i Pins update is implemented.
I gather from what you Erik wrote not long ago concerning i-cable data that there are several ways to make the Birger mount send aperture info to the RED camera. Will REDs new i Pins-program change or add anything to that?
Both upgrades are no charge to you guys.. we are even paying for the shipping
It might be a good time when you send your camera in to get our normal (paid) overhaul/checkup as well though then, since many of you guys at that time are going to be near the end of your 1 year warranty and it would be good to find out if anything is wrong before the warranty expires.

Hey Jarred. My number (#2818) is coming up sometime later this August. If I would use my 30 days to complete everything, it seems like my order would be completed just within the time frame when you start to ship cameras with the upgrade already implemented. Could you confirm this?
Best wishes,
Calle
unfortunately Shawn.. we can only give away so much...
