  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Attitude adjustment...

As a Scarlet owner, I am seriously thinking about the R1 deal...pretty amazing!!!

Any chance on battle tested DSMC PL Mounts or a price decrease on them:smiley:

I am excited to see what the path to Dragon is from Scarlet

Heh Heh Heh, Machining Aluminum is unfortunately not one of those things that get cheaper over time to make.

Are my eyes deceiving me or are Nikon mounts only available with Scarlet? Not listed with Epic?

I just double checked and you are right.. thats they way it is listed but t hat is definitely an error on our part that the web team needs to fix... Nikon mounts are definitely available with Epic.

Oh, and Mr. Fire Chief...

Jarred. Dude, you rock. You're the man. Thanks for all the years of work, passion and adding to the fun times for all involved. This is the coolest, craziest achievement I have EVER been fortunate enough to be a tiny part of. Revolutionary!

When I pitched the merits of the camera system to one of the studios I worked at, they weren't trying to hear it.

"RED is 90% INDIE." It's cool that they see the value now, but this wasn't about them. Once they finally came around, the complaints about integration into their legacy workflow would always tickle me. They were completely missing the point, and wouldn't listen to anyone trying to explain otherwise.

Bet they're listening now. Hahahaha. And if they're not, there will be a crush of people to SHOW them.

Viva la revolution! Hahahaha. RED!

Thanks Jarred. Thanks for never sleeping.

Everyone who is saying to themselves "hmm, RED ONE $4,000?...that seems tempting"...don't think about it ...pull the trigger now!

This will end up being the best camera purchase of your life! $4,000 for a ridiculously AWESOME camera that is by far better than most cameras out there by the other manufacturers.

Brent,

I am not to familiar with the RED One. Does that require an additional mount or is that PL mount built in?

The PL mount can be detached (carefully). There are third party manufacturers that make Nikon and Canon mounts....there are HUGE deals for used mounts from ex RED ONE owners...but I can assume that prices will go up.

Oh...and big PLUS!!!! Purchase some used RED drives...dirt cheap! I've seen some RED 640GB drives go for as little as $350... Hours of recording!

I work and live in Madison, WI, where filmmakers are around, but rarely have much money to rent. So, while the real rental market just got kicked in the pants, in a way, my locality is perfect for people who want to rent good cameras for cheap. I was twenty minutes late to the punch for the BT Scarlet, but tomorrow I should be placing an R1 order. I'm sort of exploding with excitement right now. Thanks RED!

Thanks man. This is sure fun isn't it :)

Everyone seems to be listening a little more nowadays as the world turns, twists and spins upside down.

One thing about a tough economy is that it cuts right through alot of bullshit..

Kind of a snippy post... the M to MX upgrade never changed price.

Jim

So is everyone here going to race for the Dragon update when it is released? Or are you going to wait for a few months and see if Red slashes the price?

Disruptive.....Adaptive.....Intuitive...

3 words that describe RED whilst also describing chaos......... for Arri, Sony & Canon products .

no disrespect, but its a pretty valid observation, not really just dragon, but meisler as well, being electronic and all. 13,000 today could well be 7k in six months how is one to trust it wont? One cant...

Sorry, did not mean to be 'snippy',

I was not an owner of the M. I used it many times, but I bought the camera when it started to work for me professionally.

Just makes me wonder why I would invest in new tool, when the price can change so suddenly.

I was considering some other accessories, but to be perfectly honest, this makes me super nervous to invest. (and one of the things I love about Red is the upgrade path... especially after giving Sony so much cash over the years).

Literally only had the camera in hand for a few months (new owner - no upgrade path). Very hard to make a return on an asset that changes value suddenly. I have owned cameras for 15 years, and I have my rules and formulas for depreciation and return. This has suddenly changed the market, and benefitted the new customer. Not the existing customer.
