Hi all,
Am DPing a feature film soon and was looking for some feedback from users who have invested in the Samurai Blade (http://www.atomos.com/samurai-blade/).
I am looking for a solution to transcode real time and really like the Blade for what all it promises to do in the price. There is no time in post for transcoding and this tool can really help up get the feature delivered in time.
Here is the workflow we are developing.
1. RED Epic shoot with simultaneous feed to the Blade to get AVID DNxHD 36 files with a LUT on the EPIC.
2. Ingest AVID 36, sound sync and make the film cut in Media Composer 7.
3. Relink to R3D files
4. Finish in DaVinci.
Question: For folks who know about Blade, does it uses the same file names as the RED cameras from which its reading the signal? If not, how difficult will it be to relink the proxies to the original media once the cut is locked? Is there a step we should follow to make this happen without glitches. This is my main question before investing in the Blade.
Thanks.
