  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Atom...

But 3D handheld=audience vomit.

That said, NICE 3D rig - might pick one up for one of our upcoming projects.

People keep saying that.

I haven't seen it happen.

3D isn't that immersive.

Shakycam Blair Witch or Cloverfield in 3D might induce vomiting... heck maybe even Battlestar Galactica.

I doubt a nice "normal" handheld or shoulder mount shot would bother anyone. You know the sort operators used to practice ad infinitum before Steadicam.

Looks great!!!

Probably is build for the next line of 3D Hollywood blockbusters.

But that all still to heavy for my work.

Looking forward to something super light for my shooting style that could be called

Ultra Cold Neuron 3D with Scarlet.

You mean like this :coolgleamA:? Our Neutron with Scarlets, not to take away from Atom with EPICs ;)

I kmow its stronger but is Magnesium heavier or lighter than Aluminum?

All in about the same price as a tricked out 3-Ality RIG, or maybe slightly less. Looks like 6 versus 12 motors?

Magnesium is definitely lighter than aluminum. Going with Atom Mag will shave roughly 5lbs. from the rig.

All of our rigs have only two motors, for IO and C. Lens control would add an additional 6 motors if using zooms.

We are really excited about the opportunity RED has presented with the Epic. This camera will completely tear down old ideas and notions about what's possible in 3D, not to mention cinema in general. 2011 should be an exciting year!

Oh wow.. Scarlets.. And they are on a field of play..
There is footage..
Red must be pushing for presentation of 3d sports with lightweight Scarlet 3D..
Or on set for one of the many big features..
Red is really gaining and gaining momentum and expanding on all fronts.

OK cool, so thats roughly $4,000/lb, JK. got it. durability trumps the weight gain
amazing that 3D is innovating at such an unbelievable pace. exciting times and congratulations for leading the charge. Choices are always good for business.

Neutron with Scarlet is also delicious looking... need 3D content now!

The build quality looks fantastic (expected nothing less from ET)...but YIKES on that pricing. I know that this rig has to be in the top tier build wise, and there are plenty of people who will pay for it, but yikes!

Owning your camera is a huge step, but you are still going to have to rent from time to time. This is definitely in the "rent" category for me. :}

I have a feeling companies renting these think they are a bargain and their clients are saying... "um 3D is THAT expensive?" and paying for these rigs
in a couple jobs. easy.

We had both of these rigs at the Santa Fe 3D workshops in RED studios last week.

Also had working Epics & Scarlet.

It's a game changer for 2D and is going to cause serious problems for some other camera manufacturers, don't say I didn't warn you Ari, person not company.

Come to think of it the company is in for grief as well.

I was also lucky enough to visit a "major movie" shooting on Epics with the 3ality TS5 rig, it changes the game for them as well, a 3ality rig that won't give you a hernia!

Great pictures as well

Thanks Joey,

looks amazing.

That means "Ultra Cold" ET Neutron with Scarlets is already here.

Jim, The Red Team, Element Techinca! It’s just absolutely amazing, congratulations to you-all. The rig is so well thought out, it’s just astonishing, and I’m sure that ET being in the company of Red is going to learn that you’re never finished. There is always room for improvement, obsolesces not spoken here! Congratulations in a continuing flow of Surprise after Surprise!
