  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Atlas Lens Co. - Orion Series 2X Anamorphic Prime Lenses

No Canadian Distributor per se, but you are welcome to order through Lorne Lapham in Canada if you wish.

Some Canadian customers order online and then take a vacation to come see us in California and pick up when their set is ready though.

I can post a quick test with the upcoming 1.6X Atlas “Universe” Extender after the 25th this month, I’m travelling right now.

We were planning to announce it during NAB but I’ll give you a little sneak peak.

It works with the 32/40/50/65/80/100 lenses - so we called it “Universe”

They also work with the Duclos Expanders (1.7x and 2X) and the IBE.

OMG so smart.

Mostly shot on Atlas Orion Anamorphics (RED Gemini) intermixed with CGI product shots and a bit of EOS R lens whacking

Does anyone know off hand how the Atlas compare to Lomos in regards to CA?

Morgan, Here's two comparisons, Albeit not necessarily about C.A.

Anamorphic test - Round Front Lomo v. Atlas Orion

By Seventy 7 Productions

This is not a test in the way that you'll find charts and exact movements. This is a comparison of two lens sets that we have in house. Our Round Front Lomo Anamorphics and our new Atlas Orion Anamorphics. They are different animals. They have unique qualities in terms of contrast, color, sharpness, breathing, and chromic aberrations, distortion (etc. etc.). They are unique from each other and offer different aesthetic choices. The Atlas Orion have a great modern look at a pretty affordable price point.
This is shot on a Red Monstro at 7k at 250 ISO.

Here's another test

I could be wrong but most Lomo anamorphics are around T2.5 to T2.8 , Atlas Orion Series are all T2

Not any point of contention at all, just something to consider in terms of performance at a wide open stop or any other given stop ;)

Dan,

If you say so, I believe you. I have absolutely no experience with either.
