Hi, is there anyone that can confirm that I will need to order the 19mm studio rod adapter with the MB20 matte box and also the 19mm rod adaptor for the FF-5 in addition to the matte box and follow focus themselves?

I just want to make sure I am ordering the right things. I am ordering from www.filmtools.com

As far as I can tell I need the following:

MB20 Matte Box
MB20 Filter Trays (2)
MB20 Side Flag Set
MB20 Top Flag
MB20 19mm Rod Adaptor
FF5 Follow Focus
FF5 19mm Rod Adaptor

Can anyone confirm before I place the order?

Thanks,

Rich

what about Viewfactors FF....remote FF inclusive...it costs around 1800 dollars.

pro:
no back slash, remote, price
con:
noise? power needed

i ordered but i hear mixed things about the noise level...
some say pretty low for a motor...some find it to loud to use in interiors.

I'll check out the viewfactor, I haven't ordered yet. Waiting for responses on this post first. I'll read up that thread on the FF-4.

I'll be using a set of Nikon lenses most of the time, hiring a set of ultraprimes occasionally. The Nikons are a smaller diameter right? This will affect the ratio also right?

Might want to consider more filter trays for your Matte box. I own an MB20 (3 tray-AR338108) that I ordered from Abelcine. You may also need an ARRI 138mm Filter Ring w/100mm Ret. - AR-333060 and don't forget your filters.

We have some nice bundled mattebox & followfocus packages that will include just what you need for your setup. The special pricing is nice as well.

Hi Mitch, I tried to register on the Abelcine website, but it didn't like my e-mail address. Is there any way I can sort that out so I can register and order online?

Send me your direct email address and I'll make sure you're taken care of.

Another question. For someone who has their camera already, what is a good length set of 19mm rods to buy? I will be hiring the camera out between in-house shoots, so should I order all of the lengths available to cover any situation a client might need with the kit?

4K Hub, I think the 18" rods will cover you for 99% of stuff since you can slide them forward so only the front clamps hold them (which is standard mounting practice on Arri plates anyway). If you occasionally rent a super-large zoom lens then hire the 24" rods that go with it.

Red's steel rods are fine but a bit heavy - I'll be looking to switch to Element Technica's Ultra rods or the new Carbon X rods to save weight.
