The first Arri accessory deal was so successful (thank you Jay!) that Arri and Abel wanted to offer something again. There have been a lot of people who were sad that they didn't make it in under the old deal, and now with the dollar to Euro trade shifting those prices are not likely to appear again.

This time through the deals have been simplified. Just two basic packages with some good base accessories. If you want any extras we can give you discount deals on them, but there are no substitutions. No need to contact me directly on this and in fact I'll be on vacation. Just contact any sales person at Abel Cine Tech in NY or LA and refer to the names of the bundles noted below IN CAPS.

ARRI MB20 II SET 19MM FOR RED CAMERA
- MB20 II basic module
- 2-stage filter assembly w/ 2x 5.65x5.65 trays (covers Cooke 18-100 on RED)
- swingaway arm
- base for lightweight 15mm rods
- 19mm bridgeplate adapter
- 138mm bellows back
- 138 - 114 bellows ring (fits RED zoom)
- top flag (eyebrow)
- pair of side flags (Arri is throwing these in for FREE!)

We set this up in 2-stage because it was less expensive and because this would allow the mattebox to cover the Cooke 18-100. We went with the 19mm adapter because that's the standard with RED cameras. Sorry West Coast kids, you'll have to order a 15mm adapter separately if you're going with the ET bridgeplate. This is a very nice kit at a sweet price.

ARRI FF-4 FOLLOW FOCUS SET 19MM FOR RED CAMERA
- Arri FF-4 with left & right focus knobs and marking disks
- 19mm bridgeplate adapter
- Arri 13.5" focus whip with knob
- Arri .08 pitch focus gear (cine lens standard)

Again the FF-4 was specced out in 19mm but you could always add a 15mm bridgeplate adapter to your order. Arri decided to toss in the whip and gear for FREE! This is probably the single best follow focus available for your RED One camera.

Abel also offers an ATA case for the MB20 II and another ATA fitted case for the FF-4. If you have any questions please contact any Abel salesperson. We went directly to Arri to work out a deal we thought would be best for RED users. It is excellent equipment for terrific prices.

This deal is on-going, but we cannot guarantee anything with the dollar-to Euro exchange rate shifting all the time.

Enjoy!

Sorry, I was asked by various parties not to post prices on this forum. Please contact a salesperson for a quote.

Mitch, love what you're doing... but this is bordering on spam.

Moved to the appropriate forum.

Sorry, we were asked to do this. Don't want to cross any lines.

No problemo, Mitch. If I was mistaken in moving it [I.E. if Jarred or somebody told you to do it...] then I'll move it back with my tail between my legs.

Hey Brook--

I don't mind it moved here if this is where you feel it is more appropriate. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't do anything wrong in the posting. This is part of the reason that we didn't list prices.

Abel and Arri have a new bundled mattebox deal. This is the clip-on Arri LMB-15. The bundle would come with 2 4x5.65 filter trays, 130mm back reduction ring for 95mm, reduction ring for 80mm and a top flag. Additional rings and other options are available at a reduced rate.

This is a great, lower-cost, super-sturdy mattebox. It is available now from Abel, not an item that is currently in devlopment. This mattebox covers many lens options and is proven in the field. We have them for sale at our NY & LA offices and will have them to sell right off the floor at NAB. I'm sure that the RED mattebox will be nice but if you need something sooner than this is an excellent option.

The top flag is carbon fiber. I tried to take the second image at a similar angle to the one Jarred posted for the RED mattebox for comparison. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Again, not a spoilsport move on our part or Arri's. Just putting an option out there to serve clients.

Mitch,

I'm getting a bit confused here, as I recently noted two versions of the MB20 successor, the MB20 II and the MB20 for Super 16 wide angle, are this the same MB?

Also as I do in photography when shooting on the wide angle Primes, I like to shade the lens from all angles, especially the sides, and I don't think the clamp on those have a mount for side wings, correct?

But if I'm not wrong you could still use the MB20 II as a clamp on, once the swing away mounts is removed, could it be?

Thanks Mitch, wryly trying to spend the extra money and go with what it is already an industry standard for very good reasons, but at the same time trying still to save were I can, like getting one MB to do two jobs..

Ciao

Two things

Two things

Mitch if you want these things to work, you are going to have to post prices. Otherwise this starts to look like you are trying to "force" people to get on the phone with Abel, and that's not going to fly.

If you cannot post prices, I would suggest not posting the deal.

Good luck

Jay

There are some differences between the MB20 and the MB20-II. The II version can be turned into a clamp-on, but it is very big & heavy. It may be a bit much for some lenses and lens mounts. To get a good idea of the possible configurations, I suggest going to Arri.com and checking out their very clear and easy to read templates. It breaks down the differences and available parts very clearly, much more so than I could do here in text. You are right that the LMB-15 does not have side wings. It is also very lightweight and much less expensive than the MB20-II.

We most certainly can ship to Europe, but we are barred from certain territories as Arri is contractually bound to other resellers in particular zones. Anyone can send me their contact info and I'll ask a salesperson to reach out to you with specific information.

Jay, we've been going back & forth on the question of posting prices for some time now. There is one particular reseller of certain products who has been underbidding us with gray market goods and/or losing money on certain deals in an attempt to make us look bad. Someone else tried to bad-mouth us saying that we were doing it so that we could make up any price we like and call it a "deal." There are also other reasons that I can only describe as political and having little to nothing to do with RED or RED users or reduser, if you follow. We're actually having a meeting about it again tomorrow.

Please believe that all the bundles we've been offering are in fact very good deals. They are set packages that we have directly negotiated with the manufacturers to present to reduser. In some cases we're barely making any money on this stuff.

Abel Cine Tech is all about being a resource center. We want to become friends with all members of the production community. There is a unique opportunity in reduser where so many people are new to owning this level of equipment. In many cases we are teaching as we are selling. And we are also here as a rental facility and a service facility. My purpose here specifically was as a liason to the reduser community. I'm the Technical Director of Rentals, not a salesperson. Initially, we did not try to promote any sales to reduser, but it was when so many people began to enquire and then of course when you Jay so graciously approached us about the first Arri mattebox deal that we then started directing sales this way. I'd still like to be looked at as a resource and for Abel to be looked at as a resource even if we never sell or rent you a single item.

I hope I'm not sounding overly defensive and this is not directed at Jay, who has been incredibly helpful. I just want people to understand my and Abel's purpose here. We deal with Sony, Panasonic, Aaton, Arri, and dozens of other manufacturers. I posted info on some tripod brands such as Panther but when others asked about different brands such as Miller we gladly gave them info on this as well. We're here to help.

Whew, got that out of my system. So Jay, the short answer is that we'll definitely take it under advisement.

I ordered the MB20-II and FF4 from Abel after getting quotes from a number of vendors. Abel easily has the best deal going right now.

They're busy (or at least my rep was) at Abel so expect a little time to get everything finalized, and apparently Arri is shipping slowly right now, so expect some time to take delivery.

Wow! Chris got some coin :-). Enjoy the spiff accessories man.
