Sorry, I should know this, just can't remember. Can an actual Arri 15mm offset baseplate (not the ET version) work and perfectly line up on the Red. I remember concerns about it way back, but a search on this site has not given me the answer.

Appreciate any feedback.

Cheers,
Dale

The ARRI 15mm Bridgeplates BP-3, BP-7 and BP-9 have been used on RED's but are not recommended. There is about a 1.5mm offset to optical center when attached to the camera base.

A follow-focus unit, depending on how adjustable it is, may work fine. Matteboxes with left-right adjustibility may be OK. I'm in New York City and I have an 15mm Arri bridge plate intended for the Arriflex 35BL3. If any RED owners want to test it out with their own gear -- just send me a PM.

You can use an arri plate with some modification. You need to mill off the top few millimeters (can't recall but it's about 2.5-3), and drill new holes on the offset plates.\

We have an ET 15mm baseplate and 24" rods for sale at a good price if you are interested. Just sent me a PM.

Thanks,

Mark

On my second Red camera I used my ArriIII 19mm.Arri plate for a bit, then got the ET one.

There are two issues:

1. The centering is WAY off. I had to drill through my Arri baseplate and Mill a recess for the screw to go through the raised casting areas.

2. The height is also off (1.5mm sounds about right). My zooms needed Two 3/8 washers on the bridge plate to fill the space and support the lenses.

If you are primes only, no matte box (or VERY adjustable one) you might be Ok. If not just buy the ET one!

Only if you use the plates for 35mm ARRI cameras. The plates for 16mm cameras are centered much more closely.
