  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Arrested Development

Fantastic to hear :) Been waiting for the new season for a really long time. Easily the TV-series I'm most hyped about!
It was really interesting to read your post, nice to learn that it is shot on RED, haha.
Looking forward to see the result :)

i figured they had shot AD on epics as they shot House of Cards on epic and that was also a netflix exclusive. I like how netflix is thinking ahead - they DO plan on having 4k streaming within a year or two iirc - so shows like this and house of cards will be readily available at 4k for streaming. Thanks for sharing Peter!

Trailer looks great!

Seven episodes in and I've laughed out loud maybe three times. So far a pale shadow of its former glory.

I wasn't too happy having to dial the resolution up and down for reframing on a docu shoot but I am glad to find about it's existence in scripted television. I am looking forward to watching the show on Netflix soon.

Having mainly shot with Epic on Spiderman and Underworld 4 3D I am pleased to talk about shooting with 3 Epics on Arrested Development (the reboot)

Mainly handheld with Angenieux 15-40, and 28-76mm zooms as well as some old Panavision converted Zeiss an Cooke glass we are fast and furious.

We shoot mainly 4K HD but use 3K for an instantaneous tighter frame and 5K for a slightly wider frame. (we shoot about 12 pages a day, so we have fast decisions to make)

No I would not use this method on a feature for a theater. Refreshing to use the Epic for more than just resolution. Also we have the full handheld wireless rig (see below and then the slimmed down rig for Canon glass and fast setups....

We have as out main rigs Epics with Angenieux zooms, Preston FIZ for focus, a Nebtek HD video transmitter, Clock it boxes for time code, Comtek sound receiver for scratch track sound recording and 2 V mount batteries to run everything..... (no the Epic cannot run all with only one V Black....

Thanks for all the positive responses.... Just got home for a 15 hour day of AD....

We are mixing the style up quite a bit... Keeping the handheld feel but also throwing in some cinematic stuff..... But Mitch's vision is the key....Thanks for the words Francis.... And we are using Panavision as the rental house. We are doing a post that will conform the r3ds to the Avid EDL.

Looks amazing Mr. Collister ... Congrats, and I hope there is more to come, will finish the season by tonight I think.

Sending my best.

- Paul.
