  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Arijana

HA! It looks gorgeous -- both the footage and dancer/model. People tend to comment more often when they can offer obvious constructive criticism. I think the titles need work (seemed rather plain, but maybe that was the intention) and I'd use less of the smokey/black background slo-mo shot (not because it's bad, but because those 'castle' locations look so much more interesting.) Both of those comments are subjective though and I don't know if they'd actually make it better.

Just curious, but what is this for exactly? You mention it being an art movie on beauty, but is it also a quasi-demo reel for Arijana (the dancer) or a short of some kind? Is there any traditional narrative in it?

Lenses? HDRx?

p.s. I was told you're not supposed to blow on blush brushes; you're supposed to shake the excess loose.

Hi Mike
Thank you for your post!
Titles, I agree :)
Lenses: Nikon 14-24, 24f1.4 G, 35 f 1.4 G, 58 Noct Nikkor, 85 f1.4 G, Tokina 11-16.
No HDRX
The movie will be about a hour long and is not narrative, it has about 15 scenes, most of them represented in the trailer. The intension is to show the beauty of her through dances, beauty scenes and slow motion with good taste nudity. It can be thought of as erotic in this sense.
Thanks!

OH man... Nikon lenses? That's awesome; they look great! Would you happen to have any non-colour corrected screen grabs so as to compare what it looked like directly out of the camera? I'm really intrigued to see how much you had to tweak the look of the nikkors to get them to look that good.

May I ask how what the ratio between dance:beauty:slow-mo scenes are? Again, this is just my opinion, but I would imagine that the dancing would hold the viewers attention more than the other two forms, particularly if the duration of the three types was similar.

I think RedUser Kristin Stewart would really dig something like this. What's the plan for distribution?

The titles are pretty off putting at the moment. Better to leave them out for now. I don't know what it is, but watching someone blowing bubbles isn't very interesting. The 2 best shots are the opening and the ballerina sitting on ledge. Bur after she gets up, it looses the mystique. The shot of her on the sitting on the floor is a little oddly framed and she looks a bit clumsy lifting her leg. I hope you don't feel offended when I ask if she is actually a dancer? She doesn't feel very comfortable doing the poses. Thanks for posting.

Hi Bob
Thanks for posting! Not offended at all, Im glad to know what people think for good and bad, some things may possible to make better due to critique.
She is not a full time dancer but more a model with dancing background.
Thanks for your comments :)

I agree on the titles. They are too big and take way too long. The model is beautiful. The shooting is very nice too ;). I found the transition from slow-mo to regular speed when she's wearing the hat rather odd. I would have like it to stay in slow-mo. But I do like the look very much.

Hi Mike
Thanks a lot!
It is roughly 5 of each.
Distribution is something I could have advise upon. Didn't contact anyone yet, plan to finnish it and try to find then but any advise is welcome.
Here are some frames, most of the time I left it close to straight out of the camera but sometimes did a strong cc. but it's a lighting issue more than lenses.

thank you a lot

Thank you Peter. It's funny, when my wife saw this cut you are talking about she said wow! But of course it's only in the trailer as these are different scenes. There will be plenty of slow motion in the movie.
thanks!
Here is another frame
