We really appreciate our customers (friends) support...

You put up with a lot.

We are usually late.

You have to defend your purchase with "those that don't get it".

Cigar smoke when you visit.

You have to live with our (my mostly) embarrassing posts.

Did I mention "late"?

Never finished program. The time to make upgrades would kill the faint of heart.

Endure trash talk from industry "experts".

We would not exist without you. We appreciate your patience, your contribution (we actually listen), your passionate support.

You are RED. Without you we don't mean dick. (Does this now qualify as an embarrassing post?) The Sony guys don't say this stuff...

I'm only a REDVOLT (and charger) away from complete and total customer satisfaction. :)

Thank you for doing this. Thank you... We can wait...

LOL, Jim. I sense a thread that will disappear, but before it does, and amidst all the fuzzy logic and edgy feelings that comes from you and even sometimes in our direct correspondence, I really think that the "I feel hurt/fuck I'll beat them all and do it better/fuck 'em all" attitude, the combination of sensitivity and arrogance is really what makes RED tick and have made something like the original R1 and now the Epic possible.

+ a busload of cash and competence, of course.
But mostly it is attitude.

as allways.
If you need me, I will come.

Cheers and thanks!

This thread will stay... I want our competition to know they are up against "not normal". You ever (almost) get in a fight with a guy who's veins in his neck stand up and you go... uh, oh? That's us. :-)

LOL!
That sounds kinda familiar...

May I also take the opportunity to say Thank you?!
Not for The "Camera" that I'll owe, not even for the amazing adventure I feel I am a bit taking part in... But simply for the kind of relationship you established with your customers. Full of trust and mutual respect.

OK...

My relationship with Graeme - being not personal, but still in some ways for me: Pretty close and important, is what made RED have infinite credibility once I read about it the first time.

I do not claim this to be mutual... :-))

I jumped ship from a fairly successfull career as a musician/composer to do "something fun for a while", which was essentially photography and directing, some 9 years ago.

And then I had all these silly newb questions, and Graeme was the main guy (amongst Gary Adcock, Noah Kadner, Shane Ross and Walter Biscardi, and lately guys like Nick Shaw, David Mullen, M Most and Deanan - but first and foremost Graeme throughout) who bothered to explain to me how stuff worked and give me examples besides: RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual), and if these guys hadn't bothered sharing their knowledge, experiences and dumbing down their scientific exact wisdom, I would never have been typing this from a multi-million shoot today.

The argument for NOT ignoring silly questions, is that one might actually learn more from a clear misunderstanding than from a "do it this way and you'll be fine" kind of attitude.

THAT attitude was my filmschool, and still is, and by now I can occationally contribute and even disagree with my mentors.... :-))

And while I still get into arguments (deliberately) with people like M Most, I still continue to learn and get new perspectives on my craft from discussing these issues.

In short:
I was sold on RED the moment I understood Graeme was part of it, and even though I think I may sometimes be considered a royal PITA, that doesn't lessen my appreciation of what you guys have done, what it has meant for me personally and finally making this industry a fun place to work.

Curiosity, generosity, stubbornness, passion, knowledge, not afraid to piss people off, arrogance and anger - when neccesary, the ability to ignore and look around fuck-ups, practical approach to un-overcomeable obstacles, but not least: the conviction that one eventually will achieve, no matter what silly shit happens along the way... That's stuff I do appreachiate in life and RED.

Without Graemes and others indiscriminating willingness to share knowledge with newbs and professionals alike - instead of keeping it in a vault, I - and I suppose many others - would not have been working with what I enjoy so much at the level which kind of resembles my original ambition. That would not have been achievable. Tools and knowledge and fun and passion.
Me likes...

Thanks again!

Thanks Jim. Red truly is a "once in a lifetime" type of company, and like others I feel privileged to be along for the ride. All I can ask is keep driving -- we'll keep enjoying the journey.

By the way, Jim -- have you been to the Dominican Republic? World renown for their cigars, in some ways as much as Cubans (as I'm sure you know). I'm staying here now, for the next
couple months with my fiance before moving back to Hollywood this summer. I will definitely bring back a box box next time I stop by the studio, hopefully in time for the next Reducation :-P

Threads like this are great because you see how much the appreciation goes both ways ....

I'm really looking forward to this "firmware upgrade" you spoke of the other day... ;)

Thank you Jim / RED for creating these wonderful toys for us all to play with.

Although I am am not a PAYING customer YET (unless you count REDucation, then I am!), I have my £$£$£$ to place down when your ready to post EPIC-X orders. Doesn't matter if your late for whatever reason, you guys deliver.
