The problem with hack pros is that every OSX update has the potential to hose your build... That makes it frustrating to say the least and it's definitely not a solution for everyone...

A day late and a dollar short.
Ok long time FCP7 user...now CS6. But I'm interested in one day maybe trying FCPX again!
It seems the majority of poster are happy with what they've got but it also seems they're editing their own projects.
So this leads me to a question .......Isnt a principle problem with FCPX is when its taken "out out of house" for CC. or DI or VFX or even collaboration with another editor & its ability to generate meaningful accepted file formats used by other software packages ...or has this been corrected ?
P.S. great quote form the article
"Still, it's a product that targets the most creative of people, the ones who occupy the intersection of art and technology that Steve Jobs always believed represented the core of Apple's identity. Nurturing that reputation remains a point of both pride and passion at the company he left behind."
I'm glad FCPX came out, otherwise I wouldn't have ever tried Premiere Pro. Can't ever look back now.
The EDL and XML formats are easily imported into Resolve or even RCX.
Personally I am glad so many people don't like FCP-X. I am the competitive type and this just means I can get more stuff done, faster and easier, than people who use those "other" NLEs. By all means, keep using those old style apps. There is nothing for you in FCP-X. You can move along.
In my case FCP-X has proved to be better in some projects, while Premiere performs better in others. Learning how to use both, and understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both has been huge for me. The price of software isn't much of an obstacle from choosing one or the other anymore, so why put all your money on one horse and close your mind on the other when you can use both to your own advantage?
I can get more stuff done, faster and easier
Out of curiosity, what about FCP X allows you to get more stuff done, faster and easier?
... that being said... i do hate the magnetic timeline... i still don't understand the rules by which it operates... sometimes it's almost as if it's casting a magic spell on your clips... and they just won't do what you want them to... until you sacrifice a small animal... with a spoon... then.. usually... that appeases the apple editing gods long enough to get the job done.
