  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Apple Magic Trackpad- What's the Point?

I don't even have the larger, multitouch/gesture ones. But the size, smoothness, and the two-finger scrolling were enough for me to look into ways to break it out and make it a USB peripheral. I can do pretty much anything (including editing) faster and better with my trackpad.

It's when you start to explore 3 and 4 finger moves it all makes sense

I actually really like the Macbook Pro trackpad for general use. Scrolling, tapping (instead of clicking) and using corners for right click is great.

What lets it down and the only reason it sucks for editing is drag and drop. Unless you perfect the double tap and drag which I can't be bothered with .......

Yeah, I agree. The problem I have with it is the button is NOT the whole thing in terms of similar pressing. It's like a lever where the very top of the pad is the hinge point. To drag and drop, holding down the button the whole time is VERY hard when near the very top of the button. I've had it unclick on me before. Once you know this, you get used to it, but coming from the previous pad with a dedicated button on the bottom, it was a pain in the neck.

It's not the point in substituting mouse, but using both at the same time.

Example: Left hand on trackpad > move and stretch FCP timeline while right hand is working with the clips by mouse or pen, or another trackpad

Let's see if they thought of that.

Could be interesting - I've always thought only one pointing device was very limiting.
