  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Apple cuts Final Cut staff?

Final Cut's Decline

Final Cut's Decline

I don't think Apple gives a shit about its Pro Customers anymore. DO YOU HEAR ME APPLE? THAT's WHAT MOST OF US THINK.

from a business POV it probably makes sense in some weird way to them.
but they will loose all the shiny celebs talking about FCP and how cool it is.

it seems they want to go away from the "Nerds" which are in reality Pros
they should now that the consumer market is ungrateful.

I'm just curious...if they move away from FCS (which they may or may not...given the last update I did expect a bit more...)

That'll leave Logic Pro as really the only pro app they make (apparently it's been given a new life in some ways, never used it but heard its got better and more then the FCS update got)

So...what happens with the Mac Pro side...what's the need for it? I mean...surely you'd need both Music and Video to really push sales for the Pros...otherwise most businesses are better off hitting up the xserve for a server and super computer kind of setting.

Don't know but this stuff just seems like a routine way to streamline everything and bring everything back into the Apple compound...
Given someone mentioned some new Apple update or something or rather a while back...so if they are still doing updates on it they can't possibly ever think of dropping it...and if they aren't dropping it then they need to start making sales. Otherwise this will be a massive flop in Apple's world and Adobe end up putting their hands up and going "Hell Yeah!" since the rest are all windows based...

not saying I really believe they're dropping FCP, but if they did do you think they'd sell it off or let it die out like Shake?

The Twitter announcement about the layoffs mentioned that it was a very profitable division, so it wouldn't make sense for them to let it die. I hope this is part of some efficiency strategy or something.

Lots of speculation on this thread... so let me add my own.

These were likely testers staffed up for the 64-bit rebuild, that aren't needed because Apple will release 64-bit FCS at NAB this year.

Just speculation of course.

News source is a tweet from a former apple employee who now makes a living off Adobe products.

Just keep the source in mind when reading news.

I think Apple has long used the pro applications to fuel their technology for their consumer apps. It's a good model, I don't see that changing too much in the future, but what do I know.

One thing to keep in mind though. If Apple abandons pro Apps, it's a huge, huge win for Adobe. I don't get the impression that Jobs would want to give Adobe a huge win considering he won't let iphone and ipad read flash.

Amen to that. I know Apple is big and making a killing with iTunes, iphones, etc... Adobe still makes rock solid software. I hear about Premier all the time but when I had it back in the 90's it sucked big balls. On the other hand, After Effects, Photoshop we're great back then and still are performing well.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Apple is big on consumers. The pro market is left hung to dry. Hard to ingest but look where we're at with FCP.
:beatdeadhorse5:

I wish they were more communicative. That would go a long way to their loyal customers. It's a lot easier to stay with a company when you have an idea where they're going. hey... like RED!

Just wondering...why has Apple got nothing like mercury? In fact...why is everything consumer if they hate adobe so much?! Surely there's got to be a damn good reason...
maybe Steve should join these forums!
