  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is it possible to reconform to my r3d files out of fcp with automatic duck in after effects cs4?? If so how do I do it??? Thanks for your time
 
Why not read an XML from FCP in Premiere Pro and hand that over to AE? Works fine here…
 
Hey guys. I have several hours of interview footage. I shot in 3K, dragged the _M proxies into Final Cut, and used Video Filter to add timecode burn-in to the footage. I choose clips out of the timeline and send to Compressor to make mpeg-2 for DVD. Some clips have worked fine. A couple of the longer ones keep failing. Any ideas?

Using an EDL (from FCP) & Cinema tools = enable Color's RED metadata control tab (For 4K/ Film finish).
 
I the footage has been shot with build 20 or 21, you'll have a problem: they are not yet supported by Apple (or Adobe). Plus, curves from RA don't transfer.

Do you mean you cant have the curve within an RSX or RLX? Because I often use RedAlert specifically using the curves for setting a look for quick processing and it seems to work..??
 
Hi everybody. I'm editing a music video following Apple workflow (FC Log & Transfer to ProRes4444, edit, conform with Clipfinder, Send to color from FC)

Here are some questions:

1- I'm not able to change the color depth from 8bit to 10bit. I have only 8bit and floating point avaible. Why?

2- After cc in Color, I have to make some compositing in Motion. How is notable the quality difference from UNCOMPRESSED to PRORES4444? I'm not sure what compression to use. Please suggest me!!!

1 Usually it's for the graphic card.
2 Prores 4 it's a great codec.

Can anyone please tell me if I use this reconform and have clips shot at 2k or 3k for slomo etc if it will cause me any resolution isues??? Thanks
 
3K will cause quite some trouble if used as R3D in Apple's apps. Better transcode it with RR or Clipfinder.

BTW, my comment about curves not transferring related to FCP's ingest.

I am facing some problems and I would like to request you all to give me your valuable suggestion to solve my problem.
I shot a movie with red 4k camera and my workflow is editing in final cut studio 3 and color correction and color grading in color 1.5( with r3d file which files make in shooting) . Our monitoring on Apple cinema HD 30” , everything was fine but when we are trying to get the output by color to fcp then 2k, HD, DV,CD,DVD and other……the output result comes out be worst which is not useful to telecast and projection in the theather. And when we try to copy on dv tape with fire wire1394 flicker also seen.
I hope you all will suggest me to get the output correctly we are eagerly waiting for your kind and sincere suggestions.

What are the output settings in Color?
What video CODEC are you using to render?
Can you confirm that you are indeed rendering the R3D?

Yes, Our output setting in color 1.5 is uncompress 10 bit 4.2.2
Render quality- Full
Grading – full
In color I can’t found codec.
I want to render r3d to Quick Time Movie.
 
clipfinder directory on multiple drives

clipfinder directory on multiple drives

hi,

i have exported an XML from FCP where I edited with ProRes HQ QT's. Imports fine into ClipFinder, but the RED source clips exist on more than one drive, but clipfinder only allows selection of one directory yet the sequence sources clips from several drives. is there a workaround?
 
I recently ran into a problem round-tripping back to FCP: If the original fcp track had more than 14 audio tracks, it would not return. When I reduced the track count to 14, it made the trip back ok.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Was it known/in the docs?

I'm curious if it is repeatable on other systems - please report back.
