Just wondering if this would work with the Scarlet?
http://store.zacuto.com/Mini-Baseplate.html

Anyone currently using on their Epic? I was going to try to build my shoulder rig setup for scarlet around this plate because of how small it is.
Just wondering bc it looks like the zacuto plate only has one 1/4 20" screw plus one locking pin.

And from this http://www.triviaburst.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/1f2e5_RED-EPIC.jpg ,it looks like you need either one 1/4 20" and one 3/8 16" OR two 3/8 16" to mount epic/scarlet securely..ideas? Maybe drill the zacuto out?

If not i'm going to build around the zacuto universal baseplate, but that is just so much larger..

Joe:

Parts you need:

1 Z-M-UB (Mini Baseplate with 12" rods)
1 Z-RI (Z-Riser with 4.5" female rods)
2 Z-RE-FM4.5 (4.5" Male/Female rods)
1 Z-SP (Shoulder pad with no rods)
1 Z-ZWP (Zwiss plate)
1 Z-TG (Top Grip)
1 Z-HG-ZW (Zgrip Z-Mount Zwivel for 15mm rods)
1 Z-ZHH (Zonitor handheld kit)

This kit will fit the Scarlet-X nicely.

Actually it will not fit well at all... it will sit too far under the lens mount to properly align with the arri light weight standard... meaning follow focus may have a hard time meeting gears of lens as well as mattebox being propperly centered to lens etc... That is why the epic/scarlet assault plate setup places the 15mm mount where it does. Not saying you can not use the zacuto, you just may run into height issues

thanks for the replies.

Ryan, zacuto sells stuff like this http://store.zacuto.com/z-riser.html that i think would allow a fix for that.

But I still wonder about my original question how the plate will mount securely to the bottom of the brain, if anyone has modified their plate because stock has the one screw and an alignment pin instead of a set of 2 screws to register the camera and securely

Joe:

Put this on top of the mini-baseplate:

and this for the bottom of your camera:

thanks for the replies.

sorry, that was for universal baseplate, my mistake. maybe it would be possible to replace locking pin with a screw?
