  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone have any experience with the Chinese knock off Steadicams? Like this one?

An old thread but thought I'd dig it up rather than start yet another one.
As wondering what people's thoughts are of the current crop of "easyrigs"

Have my eye on this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Easyrig-3-1...ig-For-3-Axis-Stabilized-Gimbal-/122474886462

Dirt cheap for US$359.10!

Would like to use it with my Sony PMW-F3 + rails + mattebox + Atomos Samurai + V lock etc set up.

Then sometime in the future (perhaps early next year, maybe, I'm in no rush to buy another camera, but will move up to 4K "one day"), I'd be using it with a FS700+Shogun+V-locks set up which probably will weigh a similar amount.

Yup. I would like to know also some opinion about those "easyrig" copies. Anyone tried/used? How about quality?

I'm more curious as to why they had to blur that guy's face!

I have both the came tv and a steadicam flyer. The best analogy I can think of is it's like driving a mid priced sports car. It's great, but once you drive a Ferrari you notice how much the mid priced car is lacking. If you're like the guy in the video and not going out as a pro steadicam op it's not terrible and can get you decently steady shots and good practice( be prepared for tons of practice to get the look your going for btw) without spending all your cash.

What specific details would you find different between the two?

Been using this for a year and its great -
Good load capacity.
bought a kong adapter for it too.

I see you've got one of those which works from 8 to 18kg, my biggest worry is if I need to use it for smaller rigs as well, such as say 6kg or 4kg camera set ups? I wouldn't want to need to buy a whole over 2nd easyrig, would this heavier weight one cause me problems with smaller cameras?
