  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any word on when the new firmware comes out?

I think we're all excited about it. Unfortunately I haven't seen any new information regarding the release date, so hang in there. Keep checking back, I suppose.
 
Would you like them to rush or would you rather wait and have them turn out a great firmware update with as few bugs as possible?

... just sayin'

Related but somewhat off-topic: does anyone know if this new FW will fix the black bars via HDMI/HD-SDI? If so I am about to pull the trigger on an outboard recorder.

That's was one the big features in this release. Also Atomos is supposed to release 3.0 which is supposed to add the ability to record the same file names as on the RED.

I'm thinking/hoping that this firmware will have a few pleasant surprises.

So, um… who else is checking the forum every half hour or so. :)

These things usually get announced late, late at night anyway, right? And then inevitably, the next one or two comments down are people saying something like "I'm glad I stayed up late.."

Yes, the next firmware release will support that feature. Status is it's currently in internal test, we'll give a firm release date as soon as we've cleared up a couple of bugs that this testing has identified.
