Received a cryptic email today from an Apple dealer with this line:

May 5, Apple New Product Roll Out - Mac Hardware, Software and more...

Any news on the street or just good marketing to get people to attend their open house?

I'm surprised any Apple dealer would reveal anything... My Apple dealer "swears" he knows nothing until the morning of the public announcements.

I follow the Apple rumors sites pretty religiously, and there hasn't been any buzz about May 5th that I've noticed, but I do hope you're onto something... 12-Core MacPros, new Cinema HD Displays, and a Final Cut Studio update are all eagerly awaited!

I havnt read anything for a may 5th release, but I sure hope your right! Thanks for the heads up

He's going to look pretty stupid if it's not true - I wonder why he'd lie, and the wording is pretty specific, so it's hard to argue he's talking about the recent macbook updates.

Interesting. I'm sure Apple would be delighted if they could spring this one unannounced.

Thanks for the info.

With the developer conference in early June, seems like they would hold any releases for then.

they better come out with some amazing software. On the hardware side I know they can deliver. iwork 2010, ilife 2010, osx 6.5, safari 5, garage-band with lady gaga presets, imovie HD with ipod gps tracking, ipod isight fusion, 40 inch LED monitors, 16 core macs, iflip HD camera for pro filmmaking backed by Coppola and the Coen bros, and brand new 5k retina control prores DSLR cam with pl mount for $500 to compete against Scarlet.

Seriously though they have to offer something substantial to their pro user base

I heard rumors now from two different sides that Apple got rid of the whole FCP development team ?!? Anybody heard something similar.
I don´t give much about Apple rumors nut i heard it now from two different sources which are quite close to Apple :(

Steve,
Getting worried about Apple’s interest in Final Cut. Last updates were not stellar. I heard a bunch of engineers were dropped too – give us a sign you still care about Pro Video, not just the iPad.
Thanks,
Alex
These days Mr. Jobs seems to be responding to everyone (he’s responded to all three of mine), with rather blunt answers. I guess he must’ve been in a good mood, because Alex got a whole three sentences worth, in which Mr. Jobs answered the three of the four questions that all video enthusiasts have been wondering aimlessly. 1) Does Apple care about Final Cut?, 2) Who were the Final Cut employees who got fired?, 3) Will the next release be any good?
We certainly do. Folks who left were in support, not engineering. Next release will be awesome.

Dear Mr. Jobs,

Please take all the time you need to make the next Final Cut Studio a truly awesome product. In the mean time, I have my hands full with my brand new Adobe CS5 and Avid MC.

However, I would like to make one small hardware feature request if I may. Can you please find it in your heart to put another damn expansion slot into the next revision of the Mac Pro? I'm always coming up one slot short.

Thanks dude.

PS. My kids love the iPad.

...and USB 3.0?

Just look at this as an alternativ to the MacBook Pro:
www.hp.se

Comes with USB3.0 and Esata port.
