Currently it doesn't look like adobe premiere can read the new .r3d files from DSMC2 cameras like the Raven. Has there been any discussion about a date for the update to read these?

All we've heard is its almost here. I spoke with a few people at RED NY the other day, and it seems no one has a specific date. But supposedly very soon.

Perhaps not Raven but it reads Weapon footage just fine.

I have been waiting for a while for an answer on this. Phil Keeps saying it should happen soon but thats been over a month now

I don't have a hard date, but I would expect soon is accurate. Either sometime this month or early/mid June. Adobe had a large Premiere Pro update last year in June, but I feel this version is further along than where things were then.

Heh. I remember when it was a year before 3rd parties supported new codecs, but I certainly understand the NEED. I've bugged Adobe and emphasized people need it. They also need to squeeze out a few bugs before the next major release, which they have been working on.

Certainly understand wanting it to be bullet-proof before release and also understand that RED is just one small part of what Adobe accommodates.

It would be nice if somehow things reversed and Adobe sent out an SDK to RED so they can incorporate RED specific updates to incorporate into Adobe as a stand-alone+incorporated version of Premiere. One would still have to have a CC membership but REDcine could keep a link with Premiere current to RED requirements.

Yup, weapon files seem to have been working fine for a while, but not Raven or S-W files. Same file extension but there must be something different in the way PP handles the contents that needs patching.
