Hi Kwan,

I talked to the Euphonix guys at the FCP Supermeet a few days ago, and they said that currently RED's software is not supported.

They were unwilling to commit to anything other than "it's in our best interest to support many platforms and that is our plan."

I met Torrey Loomis while there and the Euphonix rep mentioned that he has some on order, and I've sent mail to reserve one when they are available.

I know the Tangent works now, so that was tempting, but the MC Color feels better to me so I'm going to go that direction.

I'll keep bugging Euphonix about RED support, and pass along anything I hear.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for input steve.
I look forward to hearing from you

Any ideas when they will finally start shipping?

That's about what we've heard as well. Did you like the product? The price seems too good to be true.

Any test on euphonix MC Color with Redcine-x/ FCP/ Pro?

demo looks interesting

Any Input Greatly Appreciated:smile:

I'm actually using one of the MC Color prototypes this week on a project. As other have said, it currently does not work with RedCine-X as it would need to incorporate EuCon (Euphonix's Control Software). In fact, it only works directly with Apple Color, not even in Final Cut Pro.

I'm hoping they'll work with Red and implement it, because the MC Color is great.

I've been hearing late Feb. for ship date.. but can't get anything more specific than that.

Shipping Today

Hey guys...You were probably talking to me at the FCPUG supermeet.

We have exciting news today:

The eagerly-awaited MC Color is now shipping worldwide, offering video editors and colorists unmatched control and integration with Apple's Color 1.5. The slim-line MC Color attaches to the Mac via Ethernet, and features high-resolution optical trackballs, trackwheels, displays, encoders and a host of programmable keys to speed up and enhance the Apple Color workflow. MC Color's compact design is portable enough for on-set grading, and can be combined with other Euphonix media controllers to build a larger, integrated video editing control surface. MC Color is now available at authorized Euphonix Retailers for only $1,499

Her's a link to an in depth video:

MC Color features:
3 optical trackballs for modifying color values, vignettes and pan and scan
3 optical trackwheels for controlling contrast sliders, vignettes and pan and scan
6 touch-sensitive rotary encoders for adjusting parameters
6 high-resolution OLED displays show parameter names and values
9 programmable soft keys that automatically update their function for each room in Color
Comprehensive transport and navigation controls
Dedicated copy/paste grade buttons for memory banks 1-4

Thanks for Updated @ JC
Any idea when Euphonix MC Color & MC Transport update to support REDCine-X?
We definitely need this ASAP (Before build 110 Pre-Release ...LOL).

(Note: For Fellow Users: More request for REDCine-X Support on these forums, the more (& faster) it helps make it happen)

+1 on REDCine support

We have a Euphonics MC on our mix stage and it is badass. Those of you not familiar with Euphonics- they are everything their competitors aren't: well built, well designed, ergonomic, and the support is great. Oh, and they actually care about how the control surface interfaces with the software! Not just 'see, when I turn this, the cursor moves eventually" The MC feels like you literally have your hands on the faders in Nuendo.

PS- JC say hi to Ozzie.

I'm going back and forth between the Wave and the MC. REDCine-X support is definitely a factor in my purchase decision...

Hey JC,
Please keep us posted on your progress.

Alex- I understand REDCine-X support for the MC is being worked on. That was confirmed at RED Day. Everyone I have spoken to says the MC is a superior product, in both build quality and integration with Color. Again, Euphonix is a great company. We are expecting ours soon and I'll report back.

Awesome, Thanks Paul!

"Under the foam packaging there’s also a supplied Ethernet cable as well as two risers that can be snapped
to the bottom of the MC Color to raise the entire unit up a bit. Like the Tangent Wave, the box has a handle
and the smaller size might make MC Color more friendly for the traveling colorist though I would probably
get a more sturdy travel case if using it on the go a lot. But the Ethernet connection (you can’t connect the MC Color via USB)
might require a bit more thought into the setup if you were taking the MC Color to a facility
where you couldn’t get easy access to the CPU’s network port.

...

There are a lot of buttons on the unit so you do want them to feel right. Since they are small and often close together
I’ve found myself looking at them quite a lot. I hope this goes away so I can operate it more on feel as I use it over the next few weeks.
It’s important to note that the buttons aren’t a heavy, metal construction so they do feel somewhat plasticy.
I point this out only because I’ve seen a lot of discussion on the Internet from potential buyers who have been
waiting for the MC Color to ship instead of buying a Tangent Wave. They often seem to be going on photographs
and think the MC Color includes more metal in its construction than it actually does.
I thought this too.
The plastic construction of the Wave seems to be a common compliant about that unit and while the MC Color
doesn’t feel like a big, hollow shell it hasn’t been created from a big hunk of metal like your Macbook Pro.
It’s mostly plastic so I would encourage a potential buyer to touch one before purchasing."
