  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any Test On Euphonix MC Color

Will you be at NAB? I would like to personally invite you to demo the MC Color.

JC Haydon,

thanks for your invitation.

Unfortunately I will not go to NAB but the next IBC Amsterdam in September better fits to my schedule.

OK, we will have to arrange something. I would really appreciate the opportunity to receive your comments, suggestions, and critique after you have had a chance to use the product first hand.

That being said, is there anyone else reading this thread who will be at NAB? I will be on the booth and will happily spend time explaining the benefits of MC Color and the Artist Series to you in person.

Cheers,

JC

Hey, is this the same JC that was close to the Final Touch folks back in the day?

Sanjin- have you had your hands on it yet?

Not yet.

Ethernet port connectivity...

Ethernet port connectivity...

Just so I understand...does the MC connect via TCPIP? or just ETHERNET? Does it require access to the color station's ethernet port or simply a network drop from an attached switch/hub? If so is there a wireless lan option or are there any plans to implement a wireless option?

thx

ps. btw REDCINE-X integration is a must.

This info is from the review I had mentioned.
"we introduced some playback and stability issues in our SAN due to IP conflicts. So if you run a network, be sure you know all your IP addresses and put the controls surface on another port to avoid network stability issues."

Hence needing a dedicated IP to connect.
Hope this helps

p.s. Tangent already has the REDCINE X implementation.

It's seems the Tangent wave is a pretty decent unit and no complications in connectivity or driver issues.
We have one on order after reading few reviews of both units. And not to mention Tangents been in the color grading business for a while.

Also I would only use the panels may be once or twice a week and to memorize what the Soft Keys do in the various rooms is some what off putting for me.

And some of this is personal subjective conclusions. Not say one is better than other.

Walter was referring to IP conflicts with the JL Cooper device he had previously tested. Unfortunately this bad experience led him to believe he would have problems with the Artist Series.

MC Color uses EuCon, which is an object oriented ethernet protocol and is already deployed in many leading production houses with the Euphonix Pro line.

Euphonix Artist Series can be attached to networks using DHCP or static, user defined IP address. We have successfully tested EuCon on many networks using SAN without issue.

We are very careful about what we send down the ethernet pipeline. Our overhead is less than 10 mbps.

Our IT specialist assures that such low bandwidth ethernet device should have no impact on SAN.

Hi Adil,

You can connect MC Color, MC Transport, MC Mix, MC Control to your LAN and assign them to machines on your network. They use plug and play Bonjour ethernet to send and receive EuCon over your LAN.

From our IT specialist: "There is absolutely no reason why such low bandwidth network device would have any effect on your SAN unless you do not know what you are doing or talking about."

Your IT guy is really charming....

anyway. Thanks for the clarification. What about REDCINE-X support? Are you guys proactively working with RED to integrate MC color?

He has a way with words. ;)

We're hoping for some exciting announcements in the coming weeks.

I'm using MC Control and I suggest a different cable scheme for the system. PM sent.

I'm interested to try MC Color. Will you be at IBC ?

Thanks Deanan,
Can't wait.....

I have an MC color up and running, its fantastic, well built, get one, saves masses of time, so for me it's worth every penny.

RR integration would be great...sooner the better.
