  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any Scarlet Dragons out there?

I think my learning curve is going up a little .... ISO250 (!), shutter 360, f2,8 and you can even see the little bug flying by .......

Here's a quick little regrade on the footage. I noticed your shooting 4k instead of 5k? Any reason why?

Thanks for the advice, I`ll keep in mind .... love your "quick" grades :-)

it`s quite a way from broadcast to RED ....

thanks, and welcome to cinema s35. It's a 180 from broadcast, but once you get into it. It's hard going back.

Not saying this is how things are supposed to look or anything, and I see now Jon already had it covered anyway, but yeah...

It doesn't take much to push and pull the R3D's into shape if circumstances don't allow you to nail your look in-camera.

Thanks too for sharing the R3D's Gerald, I'm still finding it fun to play with images from the new sensor.

Thx for sharing your grades, I am learning from it anyway

I just received my Scarlet Dragon, but I won't be able to actually put a battery on it for 3 more weeks. Quickplate has a delay. :(

Are all of the Scarlet Dragons that are out there new orders or are there any upgrades out yet. I'm doubting upgrades are out at all yet cause I placed my order the first day and haven't heard anything.

They're all new orders. The upgrades won't be happening until end-of-Summer / September.

Just checking, can someone list the pixel dimensions for the following resolutions of the Scarlet-D?

-4K
-4K HD
-3K
-3K HD
-2K
-2K HD

Much appreciated!!

Zul, all the pixel dimensions are identical for SCARLET DRAGON and EPIC DRAGON. You can read the specs listed in the ops manual that is posted online.

What about aspect ratios? 4k by 3k 4:3 ratio would be nice for anamorphic and have a similar pixel count to 5k.

what is the highest framerate you can do in 5k and what is the lowest compression ratio that you can do it at?

Any updates from owners? Footage, reviews?

I currently shoot on a BMCC 2.5K and I'm considering an upgrade to Scarlet Dragon. There's still very little footage out there though.
