  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any Scarlet arrived yet?

Yeah, truth is it is probably worth getting some advice from an accountant. I am trying to figure out how to minimize my own sales tax, too. If I do nothing, mine is about 9.5% (ouch!). I might go down to southern Cal and pick mine up in Irvine!! In any case, it's worth some thought.

(BTW - I graduated from Colorado College - I loved C. Springs.) :cheers2:

This is what I found on the Florida Dept. Rev:

Use Tax
Use tax is due on the use or consumption of taxable goods or services when sales tax was not paid at the time of purchase. For example:

If you buy a taxable item in Florida and didn't pay sales tax, you owe use tax.
If you buy an item tax-exempt intending to resell it and then use the item in your business or for personal use, you owe use tax.
If you buy a taxable item outside Florida and bring or have it delivered into this state and you didn't pay sales tax on the item, you owe use tax.

Now is this a grey area? I don't know the specific's so if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Terry, I think if you have a California business then you are eligible for a tax cut with the form below. I'm not sure the full details but I use this for all my big purchases which cuts the taxes down from 9.75% down to 3.5%. Hope this helps, more money for other business purchases!

I hope this thread doesn't somehow reflect the amount of scarlets shipped - Cause this would suppose that there is one scarlet shipped per week ;-) ... that would mean i will have to wait another 3 Years ;-S .... Serial Number 00056 that is supposed to be out there doesn't really comfort me either ... we really don't know which serial was the first that got into the Hands of a customer outside the Red-affiliates ... BTW: 4 days until Canon-Mounts shippin' ...
 
I wouldn't worry, Sascha.

Most Scarlet owners probably don't even post on Reduser and I also have a feeling that all Scarlet orders will ship must faster than we'd think.
 
What we need is...

SO Number and Scarlet # and perhaps date and time ordered? That would give a some what accurate representation perhaps for those looking for estimates?

Offhollywood has at least 2 and Tonaci has 1 (maybe secretly 2 haha) and there was another collected that day, so thats 4...plus #56 as mentioned, 5....guess there have been quite a few that got out on that day, just everyones too excited to post back
 
At least you guys aren't subject to the 20% UK Tax...Kills me...

But cutting off from the thread-jacking, Tonaci's footage was great, but are there any other Scarlets out and about yet?

You must pay VAT in the US & European Union too...unless you have a VAT business registration number.

but the VAT in the EU isn't 20% like the UK is it? 20% is crazy...I though 15% was high and 17% but 20% just brings a whole new meaning to crazy tax...

Anyhow, Are there any European Scarlets? Surely there must be at least one in Europe...

I do wonder though how many of the 300 got their orders so far...would help in easing some peoples anxiety over their chance of theirs shipping on the 1st or not

20% VAT in The Netherlands.

And no... as far as I could check on fora and internet no Scarlets in EU yet. The general estimate is ±5 are delivered last week (in the US).

I spoke to RED UK on Friday (trying to get an authoritative answer on Scarlet phantom power since RED USA closed for Thanksgiving weekend).

They couldn't help - apparently RED Europe haven't yet even SEEN a Scarlet; I was told they expect the first batch sometime next week.

I think my uncle who lives in California REALLY wants a Scarlet...

I think I might just give him $15K for Christmas this year...

He might bring it over here to the UK with him for some holiday snaps...may accidentally leave it behind...
